Super Mom Made It True!
Submitted by: Twins mom
Queens NYI'm a single mother of 18 year old twin boys. I play the role of both mom and dad. My goal in life was to make sure I taught my boys how to work hard for the things they want in life.
Raising twin boys wasn’t always easy but giving up on the struggle wasn’t an option. I’m a single parent and have financially and emotionally supported us on my own. My dream was to do this successful, actually over the top successfully. I wanted to be an example that moms can do this on their own. I didn’t want us to be part of the ridiculous statistic that kids benefit and are raised better in a two parent household. Not true!
One of my twins has special needs, he’s considered high functioning autism but I consider him a complete introvert. As a child he had so many challenges but I refused to believe and always imagined that the doctors, teachers and everyone else was wrong about him and he was going to prove that indeed, they were wrong. So far he has.
My dream was to get both my kids into college. During their senior year in high school I imagined and played it out on my head for one year that I would be telling my friends and family that my kids got into the best colleges in NY. And, they would get in with scholarships.
Fast forward to today. One of my boys got into a prestigious art school, one of the best in the country on a scholarship!! My other son also received a scholarship into a well known private Catholic University. With the help of financial aid and their scholarships, my twins go to college for free!!! There was a time when I feared they wouldn’t be able to go because I wouldn’t be able to afford it but once I started to believe and imagine a “balance zero” on their tuition bill, I knew I could make this come true. All I have to do was believe it, put it out into the Universe and it would come true. I knew it would work because I had done it for little things like finding a parking spot. So why not try it for something big, this big. My kids attend college without the financial burden that I would have had for four years x’s 2. I wouldn’t have helped my kids reach this level of success if I didn’t believe, if I didn’t put it out into the Universe and if I didn’t envision it every day. All you have to do is believe. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
