This is a story of a very simple fact but of a very strange and unexplained coincidence as well, that made me believe that it wasn’t just chance.

That summer had been already a year that I had been in love with a guy, who was living abroad because of work. We met when he was working in my town and then after a while he moved to another country for the whole year. He was a professional athlete and signed a contract with different teams every season.

After he had already spent that winter abroad, it was time for him to sign with a new team. I secretly hoped it would be in my city, even though neither I nor he, not even his manager, knew where the new team would be.

That June I randomly read in the news that a team in my city were interested in him. Every week I followed the news and read short articles here and there about him, some were saying he was coming back, some were saying he was not. By the end of the summer I was so frustrated and depressed that I still didn’t know if he was coming or not!

And then I saw the film The Secret. Randomly found it in a pile a DVDs that my flatmate had given me.

I thought about what I had seen and then I started doing it as if I were hypnotised. I wrote on a piece of paper that I wanted him to come back and sign with the team in my city. I hid the paper and forgot about it. I started having fun, going out, taking care of myself and being carefree!!

One day I read in the newspaper that the team which was about to hire him had actually completed their roster and signed some other athletes instead.

The funny thing was that I didn’t actually feel any worry or doubt or fear or disappointment AT ALL.

I was on my holidays, having a good time, not really thinking about it at all.
And then one fine day, I don’t even remember how, I came across this article that was saying: the other athlete that they had hired instead of him, after signing a multi million contract with them and agreeing on everything , had mysteriously failed the health assessment that all athletes had to go through and therefore the team was BREAKING his contract, and hiring MY man instead !!!!

A week later he texted me saying that he was back and wanted to see me…… 🙂
