This is the first story I am writing on here, and I hope not the last! My name is Summer Lane and I am thirteen years old. I had heard of The Secret once before and never took any notice of it. The truth is I didn’t believe in it. I couldn’t understand how what you thought about came about.

But late last year my mum’s friend gave her The Secret the film which we both watched but didn’t consider any of it. It was not until my mum bought the book, The Power, when she started to understand the purpose of it. My mum understood that the more positive energy you put into something the energy in the object would increase massively.

My mum tried many times to introduce The Secret to me, but I wouldn’t intake it. It was not until I had an emotional breakdown, I thought everyone around me hated me and I thought I was useless. I thought I had no purpose in the world until I re-watched The Secret film. My mind was ticking with ideas and thoughts, the one thing I thought the most was if it was going to work. I learnt that not having utter faith in something will make that thing less powerful.

So, after watching the film I really started to apply The Secret into my life. The first thing I asked to see was a hedgehog, which in Britain you rarely see or hear about. But the following weekend, me and my mum went on a walk. Every day we get my nan a paper, so as we were driving to the café I looked in the paper and I saw a hedgehog! This really surprised me! I’m not saying I didn’t believe I was going to see one, but the thought that I asked for a hedgehog and I received a hedgehog blew my mind!

So, I started to think about not just asking for small things, I thought about asking for something bigger. So, the next thing I asked for was an iPhone 5. But I created myself a vision board, everything I asked for was on that board including my iPhone. Every day I wrote a gratitude list of ten things I was grateful for, for the following day or another day. Before I went to sleep I held my Gratitude Rock and gave it an ultimate power and utter faith in everything I asked for.

The next week, I had just come back from karate when my grandad rang me. He said, what was that phone you wanted? And I replied that it was an  iPhone 5. He said that he had just ordered me one and it will be here for the following week. I was so gob smacked that I had the power inside of me to achieve things that I never thought I could! I continued to do my gratitude list and Gratitude Rock and the more things I asked for, the more of those things came into my life!

The reason I wrote this story is that every one of us has the power to change our lives. Even if we have a large amount of debt or are without a job, we all can change our lives for the better! Since the start of the new year, I have wrote myself goals I want to achieve each month and so far I have achieved four in January and one in February already!
