The Secret Helped My Mental Health and Get a Job
This time last year I found myself at a point where I wanted to take my own life, as life had become unbearable for me. I’d been suffering from mental health problems for a long time and I honestly believed that I’d never recover. I took to Twitter and expressed my feelings. A friend sent me a private message and recommended that I read The Secret, so I decided to download it from Audible. I’m usually the type of person who likes everything to be backed up by scientific research but for some reason The Secret sucked me in.
The first thing I did was make a list of things I wanted to achieve over the next year. The list included overcoming my mental illness and becoming employed. I had been applying for jobs for several years with no success. The list acted as a vision board and I looked at it every day. Next I started to act as though I already had the things I wanted and I start to practice gratitude on a daily basis.
After a few weeks I found myself volunteering in a charity shop and I worked hard, as though I was being paid to work. Several months later the opportunity to apply to manage the shop came up. I applied and then acted as though I had the job. I was successful in getting an interview, and guess what? I got the job!
The methods shared in The Secret made me have a more positive outlook on life. I’d been fighting the mental health system for months and found myself being booted off waiting lists for no reason and then being put to the back of the queue. When I started practicing the methods in The Secret, I finally got the help that I needed and now I am in recovery.
Thank you for sharing The Secret
