Remarkable Home Buying Experience.

Augusta, ME.I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist. I do this full time. I’m a mother to four adult daughters. I love nature and pets.
In November 2018, I was seriously looking to buy a home.
One day I was sent a flyer of multiple homes available and I kind of focused on one in particular. The structure was an 1806 Farmhouse on a corner lot. I asked my agent to set up a showing. We met at the property and checked it out.
It was a perfectly normal walk-through. It was a period of time when you had time to think it over, rather than outsource another interested party. A few days went by and my agent called me. He asked how I felt about the property. At that split second, I decided to ask the sellers to take 5k off the asking price! I also wanted them to pay all of the closing costs and if my inspector found something serious with the house, then they would correct it. I didn’t care about cosmetics.
I was expecting the sellers to counter the offer, but they accepted it! I was stunned but grateful.
I had pictured my car in the driveway and my furnishings inside the home during this whole time. The inspector took about 300 photos and went in every nook and cranny. He told me there were a few cosmetic issues but the real problem was the outdated oil furnace in the basement. It was probably, “tired iron.”
My agent passed that along to their sellers and within a week I got a phone call from my agent. He told me he could not believe it but the sellers put a brand new furnace in for me! The furnace cost about 6k! They gave me the receipt at closing!
So, the remarkable thing is that everything I asked for was accepted and I got a new, economical furnace! I have to pinch myself for my good fortune. I have been in my house for just over 5 years now, and I have not had any significant issues with the purchase. I love it! The house has increased in value substantially. I do not plan on selling it and will be leaving it for my family members.
