Presents Of Mind
In 1987 I made a failed suicide attempt and The Higher Power snatched me from the jaws of death. Clearly God had a plan for me and unknowingly I played along. After the failed attempt, I knew two things. One was that I was misunderstood, the other was a realization of problem solving.
Before too long, and because I have always lived at the poverty level, I decided to write a book about problem solving in an effort to better myself financially. I had no prior experience writing, but I believed I could because I know there is a higher power and I believed God would guide me in my endeavor.
At the time I was potting in Longmont, Colorado and I decided to sell off my pottery equipment to fund a move to Hawaii where I intended to write my book.
In The Secret, the way to manifest what you want is to ask, believe and receive.
My plan was to work as a waiter in the evenings and write during the day. I think it was Bob Proctor who said something to the effect that “You have do what it takes to manifest your desires.” There was much to do, but I never wavered because I believed so strongly in what I was doing, no matter what others thought of me and my idea.
To make a long story short, eventually I got a job at a beach side restaurant on Kauai, in the evenings, and wrote “Presents of Mind” during the day. A waitress who I worked with suggested that I take my time when it came to the ending of my book. She said, “I know it takes a lot of time to write a book and some writers want to be finished quickly and don’t put enough thought into how they end their book.”
I’m so glad I listened and followed her advice.
As I mentioned, I wrote the book to better myself financially, but when it came time to finish my book, an idea, A GREAT IDEA, just popped into my head. I realized that there are worse things in the world then being a starving artist, so I decided to donate all my royalties to six different charities. I remember crying my eyes out as I wrote the ending because I KNEW I was doing what God had intended me to do. I finished the book in 1992 and I knew this book could generate millions of dollars for good causes.
The second to the last line reads, “In the future I can stroll down the street without a dime in my pocket and still feel like the richest man on earth, and it’s all because I have Presents of Mind!” God has always provided for me so it was effortless to make the decision that I did. I knew deep in my heart that it was the right thing to do.
About two weeks ago, I stumbled across The Secret on Netflix. I watched the whole thing and all the pieces fell into place.
I had asked, “I want to write a book about problem solving”, coupled with a strong belief that I could, and God surely did guide me. And the receiving part, I think, was being open to receiving the idea that popped into my head.
In ending, I just want to say how strongly I believe in The Secret. It is incredible what you can manifest using this connection with The Higher Power. In fact I think I’ve gone beyond believing and have advanced to KNOWING! I don’t think I believe that you can work in conjunction with God, I know you can!
