I discovered The Secret a couple of months ago when a friend borrowed me her copy of The Secret DVD. I enjoyed the film and went out and bought myself the book. I read at least a few pages of the book every day and apply the tools that I’m learning to my daily life. I have been able to see how I have attracted specific things into my life in the past and even presently after they happen I see that wow I asked for it by my thoughts and that is what the universe gave to me. But I had not received anything that I was specifically putting out into the universe. So although I was a believer because I could see what I had done in the past, there were still some doubts in my mind.

I read the stories on this site for inspiration, and about a week ago I was reading where someone said start with the small things like the book says. I thought, “Ok I can do this”. So I tried thinking of something small and the first thing that came to mind was a pink flamingo. But then instantly I thought, “Well that’s a silly thing to think of, you will never see that”. So I had made my request but I didn’t really believe it. Then this week I was reading the stories again, and again I thought, “You need to really try that. Put something small out there and have the universe bring it to you.” So again I tried thinking of something and pink flamingo came to mind. So no matter how silly it seemed to me I knew that I need to go with the pink flamingo.

This was at the end of my work day when I sent this request out into the universe. I needed to stop at the grocery store on the way home. So as I was driving from work to the grocery store I just knew that I was going to see the pink flamingo. And I had this feeling that I would see it at the grocery store. Part of me still thought it was a silly thing but yet I really believed it this time. So I went about my shopping and I kept an eye out for my flamingo without going out of my way looking for it, but I came to the end of my shopping without seeing it. Instead of thinking, oh this doesn’t work, I thought, “You will still see it”.

I got in line at the checkout and noticed that the lane next to me was shorter. I was about to move over to the other lane but decided to just stay in the original lane. So I was standing in line waiting and I scan the displays like I always do, and then I just stopped. There in the checkout was a display of socks. And on the socks were pink flamingos. So now, I have no doubts. I realize that the law of attraction really does work and I need to believe it and I will get everything I ask for.
