Patio, Please.

Nashville, TnI am 48 and a recovering perfectionist with 5 mostly adult kids. The power of choosing what you focus on is new to me. It has been exceedingly helpful in letting each of my kids be on their own journey without doubt and fear for them, and in letting myself express my desires as I continue on my own journey.
Last August, I had a trailer of bricks unloaded behind my house. Free bricks with more available if I needed them for my brick patio. They were to go between the deck and the flower bed. It was the perfect place for our picnic table so we could study at it and use it for family meals.
That same weekend, I injured my shoulder which prevented me from attempting to do the patio on my own, as I had planned. The bricks sat while I looked at pictures of patios.
Spring comes and my desire was still present and my brick source wanted to know if I needed more bricks. I chose to see my patio finished before a big trip in May. I did not know how or who was going to do it. I decided that I was not going to get caught up in the impossibilities, instead, I was just going to keep myself focused on seeing what I wanted.
Then our son came for a two week visit and expressed a desire to work on a project while he was here. He actually has some experience from a job last summer. He was willing and eager to take on the work. I got to bless him, even as he was blessing me.
Now, my patio is complete, before our trip in May, and exactly as I had pictured it! Thank you to the Creator of the Universe, for seeing me and hearing my heart’s desire, and delighting me by making it so.
