Fourteen years ago around in July, I was so excited that I would soon have my first house, only to become frustrated because the house I was planning to buy had a lot of legal issues. I found out right before I signed the agreement. I was heading back home very upset when I said, “God, if it was not meant to be mine, then help me to let it go and trust your decision.”

Not long before that, the property agent showed me a bigger house that was twice the price but it was very nice. At that moment, I said to myself that it would be perfect if I could bring my parents to live with me and the kids since my parents were having a financial crisis and might have to sell their home. At that time I was wondering how could I afford to buy that beautiful white house. But since my mind was so focused on the other house, I did not think about it anymore.

The following month, my best friend and I were attending a wedding party. We joked around telling each other how we would like to have our wedding party next. The only problem was none of us had anyone to get married to. My love life was a big mess.

One day I found The Secret in my drawer. It was given to me by my ex-husband a few months ago. I had not read it although he told me that it was a very good book. Something told me that day that I should read The Secret. It was one of the most important books that I have ever read. It opened my heart and mind right away.

There is this chapter about a woman who wanted to have a husband. She slept on one side of her bed, made room for her future husband in her closet, and took many other actions as if she already had one. I followed her steps and continued praying that I would be married to a man who was caring, loving, fun, responsible, trustworthy, can be my best friend, a step-up dad for my kids, and would be fun to be with.

In September, my best friend, the one that had come to that wedding with me, asked me to give him a chance to be my life partner. At first, I rejected the idea because he was my best friend and I did not want to ruin the relationship should it did not work. Deep inside my heart, I asked God to please give me the answer if he was the one. And then, just like magic, everything went so smoothly and naturally. We grew even closer and the romance came naturally.

We took our kids for one a week long holiday to see how it would go and they bonded instantly. He then came to my parents and asked for their blessings. The rest was history. We got married in December of that same year and he bought that nice, big white house for us to live in.

Here we are, 14 years later and still counting. Of course, we have our ups and downs but the bond gets stronger and more solid each day.

If I can share the most important things that I learned from this, I would say that dreams do come true and we can create our own reality. Ask God and/or the Universe to help and guide you to achieve it. Believe that your prayers and wishes have been already granted. Trust God and/or the Universe completely, always be grateful and make sure that you let it go. Continue to be a better person each day, match your actions with what you want to have or be and then receive it with an open heart.

In the next story, I will share with you how I got many other things in life effortlessly. Miracles do come true. There is no such thing as too small or too big. A loving husband and father for me and the kids and a dream house at the same time. Which other favor of God/ the Universe are you denying?
