This is the amazing story of our new bed!

Financially, things had not been very good for my husband and me for the last three years. Owning our own business through Covid 19 has been very challenging but things are improving. Money has been tight as we cope with rising costs and we struggle to make ends meet. Just under ten years ago when we were much better off, we splurged and bought ourselves a nice mattress and boxspring. We had always had cheap, uncomfortable beds in the past and wanted to do better. But even a good bed has a life span and our bed was breaking down. Finally, it was so uncomfortable we had to get a new one. We looked at Costco and the cheapest one was $649.00 CAD for the mattress alone. It was packaged and standing upright so we couldn’t even lay on it to see what it was like.

We decided to go to the same franchise we had bought our old bed at almost a decade ago to see their prices. We asked to try their cheapest bed and told the salesman that we had bought our bed from them almost ten years ago. He asked if our bed had been firm or softer. We couldn’t remember so he looked it up on their computer to see what type of mattress we had purchased before and told us we were still covered by a ten-year warranty. He commented that he was surprised about the failure of the mattress as it was a very good quality one. We decided to put in a claim but we were both skeptical as the tag had been removed. But we thought, what did we have to lose? We had to submit many photographs and fill in all the information and then we waited.

And guess what? Our claim was approved! We were so excited! We then thought about the boxspring, a board had broken inside and we wondered if that was the cause of the mattress failing. We felt like we were pushing our luck but decided to put in a warranty claim on it too. Again we were approved!! We couldn’t believe it!! So back we went to discuss a replacement bed. The salesman explained that the warranty covered a comparable or better quality replacement. We said that would be fine by us as we were just so grateful to be getting a bed for free.

When the new bed was delivered we were shocked and amazed! The bed that arrived was so impressive. I looked up the model on their website and our new bed was worth $3000 CAD!! Presumably inflation and currency rates worked in our favor.

We went from a broken bed to shopping for the cheapest bed we could find and feeling pretty low about it, to sleeping in luxury!!! How is that even possible???

I’ll tell you how! It is The Secret!!! When we were looking at mattresses I kept thinking that I didn’t want a cheap bed. I really wanted a good bed. But I didn’t know how that could even come to be. But The Secret made it happen! If someone told me we would have a $3000 new bed set for free I would have thought it impossible! Yet here we are…
