New Job

Houston, TX6 years in the hotel industry, wanted a change and got what I wanted. I got better pay, better hours and benefits, all at the same time.
I worked in the hotel industry for about 6 years total, and out of those, I worked 4 years as a night auditor, working at the desk, organizing paperwork, batch credit cards, answering phones in the middle of the night serving guests, and other issues that arise in the middle of the night. I did this kind of work for too long, and at many other hotels. I was so tired of staying up all night doing this. It was fun at the beginning, it being different from others and trying something new at the time. I just didn’t want to do it anymore.
I moved to Houston from Dallas, TX, and thought if I did night audit here in Houston, it would be different. Nope, same old stuff. SO then I was looking for something entirely different, and wasn’t for sure what.
I decided to take a chance to apply in the banking industry. Same customer service concept, and more financial services instead of hospitality (hotel) services. I was looking for a better job, better pay, and better benefits. I just applied at a credit union here in Houston, and had 4 interviews for this teller job. Before I went off for the interview I prayed that I wanted to have this job, show them that I believe I am a great candidate for the company, and the interview as comfortable as if I was with my friend that I’ve known for years. When I got there, I wasn’t nervous, I smiled, and we both started talking and getting to know each other. As time went on, my first interview lasted 3 hours, and it didn’t have to last that long, but when you get down to the comfortable level of interviewing it becomes a normal conversation, and it just keeps on going. We got off track and enjoyed our time.
For the 2nd interview, same thing. I prayed to be comfortable in all levels like the first time. I went to the local branch office where I will be working (next Monday), and interviewed with the branch manager and teller supervisor. They toured me around the different departments and back in the office and lasted about an hour. The 3rd and 4th interviews, same process.
Then I decided to go to Corpus Christi to get out of Houston for awhile. I took some days off from the hotel and went down south. I still had the prospect job in mind, but told myself not to push any more, and let them do their jobs. Then I eventually called them that Thursday on the way back to Houston, they finally offered me the job, and I took it. I was so excited, and gave my 2 week notice to my hotel employer. No more hotels.
I got what I wanted because I believed in it. I prayed for it, asked and released, just like in The Secret DVD. I just finished my two weeks training at the credit union, and will now start my actual on the job training next week at my branch location. Now that is in progress, I am ready to expand my horizon on other things in life and see what happens with that.
Don’t get discouraged, just be patient, believe, and release.
