I want to share with you the story of how I have come to understand The Secret and how I have been using it until now. I have not read the book or seen the movie yet but it is going to happen!

I was introduced to The Secret two years ago when my father had come into my room, enthusiastic about something that he had been reading and watching (which certainly was The Secret). I wasn’t a person of any of the self-help stuff of its kind and didn’t understand what he wanted from me. He explained to me The Secret was thinking positively, not negatively. Negative thinking brings only damage. In addition he also tried to explain to me the principle of the law of attraction and gave me examples of his early life, applying the law without even knowing it.

I have not taken this too seriously, and a tried to think about the past, and to see if I was really attracting all the things that happened to me. Frankly, most of them I realized did. You see, I wasn’t thinking about attracting food, drink, I was thinking about people I have attracted, events, and achievements. I understood that everything that had come into my life, I was thinking about it emotionally or just focusing on it.

Later on, my teacher of self defense also explained some things to me, for example, once when I was ill I was introduced by him to the Placebo Effect. He gave an example of him, giving a sugar pill to a person, who was chronically ill, telling him that the pill is very good and effective and must cure him. He told him that it was a legal drug that is very hard to find and extremely expensive. The man has taken the “drug” without thinking twice. He told me that several hours after the person had taken the pill, he was immediately healed. He also told me that it strongly depended upon his feelings and thoughts. If he was thinking that it is just another pill, of many other pills he had been taking before, and felling terrible that he was going to be sick for days and weeks the pill would naturally not work. But what had happened was that the man was thinking that “oh, this is a an expensive drug and therefore better quality” along with thinking that drugs have great affect on peoples body… “Oohhh I am going to be healed!!”, and feeling really good about taking a strong pill, he thought that it must have worked, he didn’t wonder or think negatively.

I learned the lesson that thoughts and feelings have great influence on the body.

He tried to explain to me that the universe responds to the thoughts and the feelings. And another important thing that he told me, something that I later understood was one of the most important things I have ever heard was “Everything depends upon a man’s personal power. He can be introduced with the most valuable words of wisdom, and do nothing about it. On the other hand, there are people who can hear one word of wisdom and change their whole life and the life of others, but the person’s personal power always depends on the power of will, which is never under total control of genes and is the answer to everything we want”.

And this is how The Secret works in my opinion; you can see the movie over and over again and just do nothing about it, but on the other hand only seeing half may be enough for you to understand the principles and how to use them.

It is very common thing that people see the movie or read the book or any other self help book, and do NOTHING about it. Well they are not alone, I know many people like that, including me.

Only yesterday I have used The Secret. I had an extremely important maths exam. I really suck in maths, I am in a very high group, advancing, but I have extremely low grades (the last one was 21 out of hundred…). Two nights before the exam I went to sleep, after reading some inspirational stories on the website, thinking about the next day, that I must learn and I was feeling very good and full of self confidence and self esteem.

Just for you to understand I always studied before any math exam, for days and for weeks but I was getting extremely low grades. So, the day before the exam I was studying, with the feeling of knowing everything and having that 100 now!

On the day of the exam I kept the feeling of having the high grades and knowing everything, and when I took the exam, it reflected my feelings. I indeed knew everything and felt very good. The difference between this exam to the previous one was certainly my attitude to the test and to the studying. In the previous one I was thinking “Damn, I don’t know anything and can not do all this stuff. I will better hope for an easy test.” That was a wrong attitude.

Another important thing I have been told is “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

Always believe, and belief must be with 100% certainty.
