My Life Before And After The Secret.
I will start out by saying that before I ever read The Secret, my life was very complicated and tormented. I was in an abusive relationship for 2 years, got out of that one and just walked into another one which was even more abusive, both physically and mentally.
One day, I just felt fed up and landed my partner in jail. I found out soon thereafter that this person had 16 Domestic Violence charges. I thought to myself, how can this be? No other woman has ever stood up to him, at least that is what I discovered. I stood my ground and they gave him a 12 year prison sentence. Finally, I thought; I stood my ground and did something to avoid this abuser from hurting anyone else.
I remember that I went to the local book store and there was only one copy of the book The Secret left, and it said my name on it. When I started to read this excellent book I could not keep my nose out of it. I remember that I read it in 3 days. I began to change my form of thinking; realizing that just like the book noted, we are bringing to ourselves exactly what we think.
Changing my thoughts from a negative to a positive was not easy but yes, do-able. It took me a while to get out all the negative and as soon as the negative thought came; right away I changed it to a positive, and things started changing in my life. I went and got therapy for all the anger I had inside from all the abuse. It helped me tremendously.
After that, I was undecided, but that had to change. It took me 4 long months of looking at an e-mail sent to me, to return to school. One day, I picked up the phone and enrolled in school and it was great going back to school at 47. I had to overcome a few fears and then just went back to school. I graduated with an AA in Psychology.
All of these things started falling in place one at a time and I felt happy and proud to be able to achieve my goals. I am now 50 and looking to further my education in Substance Abuse Counseling, which is my passion. My prayers are answered daily and although I am disabled; I wish to volunteer when I graduate and help those addicts who really need help.
Just last year in July 2014, I fell ill to Leukemia and I was not only in shock, but totally in denial that I was really sick. During my hard time with this illness and chemo and all, I became closer to my higher power, whom I choose to call God. I started applying The Secret on a daily basis and calling out that I do not own any illnesses, and I have abundance in healing, finance, love, relationships, family unity, and the unconditional love of my God. My faith became stronger, and my mind and attitude stayed on the positive things and getting rid of any negative thoughts by changing those thoughts to a positive.
As of July of 2015, I am proud to say that I am in remission; although the chemo continues, it is no longer detected in my gene test. Today when I take my chemo pill I have decided to call it “My Miracle Pill” and I keep moving forward one day at a time.
The Secret has most certainly changed my life, my faith has grown a ton, and my attitude of gratitude continues on. It is funny that I ran into writing this story because I am one step away from opening The Secret again, and reading it again to refresh my thoughts and knowledge about The Secret. I ask, believe and receive all the good things that come my way.
The world would be such a better place if more people would read The Secret. Before The Secret, I was nothing, heading nowhere and without any direction. Has this book changed my life? Yes! I am loving my new way of life. It is totally awesome and I am so blessed. I have much to offer even at 50. So I say this to say that anyone who can do this will live a very fulfilling life with The Secret. Today, I can look at a bad situation and find something good in that situation and I love to help others and put a smile on people’s faces. But, before I could do that I had to change all of my thinking. I went from negative to positive and I am loving it all day, every day. I hope that you enjoyed my story and that it can help someone along the way.
