At the age of 26 I faced a traumatic month that would forever change my life. I lost my husband to cancer after a year long battle. Prior to that we lost our home when we had to sell it in order to afford his trip to Mexico, where we heard he could find a cure. If I didn’t feel alone then, imagine my devastation when my dear beloved mother died in her sleep a month later. All that I knew, those I held dear, were suddenly gone. I was homeless and alone with a 5 year old daughter depending on me to keep it together.

I struggled and I prayed. After living with various friends and family members, I was able to afford our own apartment. Things were starting to look up! I had faith God would make it work! I carried the bible with me everywhere I went.

Five years later, I remarried a wonderful man. However, he had a very difficult time adjusting to a ready made family. The unhappiness resulted in his going out of town most of the time. As an airplane pilot, he was able to schedule his time to his lifestyle.

I refused to uproot my daughter once again, and so I stayed busy working, taking care of my daughter, and on my free time reading. I’d read the bible and every spiritual book I could get my hands on. The only place I felt peace was in my reading. I didn’t have cancer or a broken body, but I had a broken spirit. I prayed to live long enough to see my daughter grow up. And that’s exactly what I did.

One special, unforgettable night, my husband was out of town and my daughter was out with her boyfriend. I laid in bed, crying, screaming in my head to God, “What am I doing wrong? What am I not seeing? I’ve been trying to live by your rules, your commandments. Life doesn’t seem fair!” Then I heard a voice, very clear! “CATHERINE, YOU ARE CREATING THIS YOURSELF.” I was shocked by what I heard, but I knew without a doubt that it was the truth! It wasn’t easy to undo 40 years of listening to the wrong guide, but eventually it became easier. I was led to the books I needed, The Course in Miracles, Marianne Williamson, Emmet Fox, and The Secret book. Somehow, what I had heard was explained to me. The answer was crystal clear. I had experienced and learned the life changing Secret!

To this day, my life continues to blossom. I now have a wonderful 12 year old son and 2 wonderful grandchildren, a very well balanced daughter, a super son-in-law, and a husband who turned out to be #1. However, “The Secret” I learned from my journey. You must give every good thing you want for yourself to everyone. Give love, give health, give wealth, give joy, and give endless thanks, all without exceptions! No judgements! You will get them back in perfect order!

For myself, I believe the 25 years of reading, The Bible, spiritual books, and experience, has brought me to “The Secret”. I do believe in prayer. “Believe it-See it -Give Thanks!”
Today my spirit is full of love and joy. It wants to scream out how grateful I am for such a wonderful life! “Thank you for The Secret!”
