After graduating high school I had NO idea what I wanted to do with my life. I decided to attend the HUGE University of Massachusetts, where I ended up feeling completely lost and confused. I was taking all sorts of general education requirements, but I didn’t know what to major in. Nothing felt right. I have always been one for taking the quote end quote “easy way out”, and didn’t want to study all this excess “crap”, as I referred to it, that would have nothing to do with the rest of my life.

I spent my days complaining and miserable, sitting alone in my dorm room, calling my parents crying every night. This charade lasted for two years, and I thought, “Man! Life sucks.” And you know what, it did. Because that’s how I saw it, and that’s what it was for me. I didn’t see any path or light at the end of the tunnel for myself. I couldn’t see any future resulting from any of this.

That summer at a family party, my cousin suggested Court Reporting to me. I was like, “What the heck is court reporting?” I had never heard the term in my life. She knows someone who does it and said the girl makes over $100,000 a year to basically sit there and do nothing but type on a little stenography machine. I was like, “OH MY GOD!!! I WANT THAT!! That is SO ME! I’m so going to get that. That’s it! That’s for me!”

The only other job I’ve ever had is as a lifeguard, where I get paid to sit in the sun and get a tan all day, so court reporting sounded absolutely PERFECT! Hehe. Also, for court reporting school you ONLY learn court reporting. I had ALWAYS said, I just want to learn my CAREER (instead of all these jokes for classes that were only wasting my time and money).

The story only gets better and better. This is where all the freaky “coincidental” (or so I thought at the time, before seeing The Secret) things started happening. I started doing my research on Court Reporting. I was DETERMINED to do this. My Mom and Dad would say things like, “Honey, if something seems to good to be true, it usually is.” I didn’t listen. I looked right past the statistic: ONLY ONE IN TEN GRADUATE COURT REPORTING SCHOOL. Instead I said, “Oh I AM the one.” And I just knew.

Bryan College of Court Reporting kept appearing all over. Everything I looked at led me back to their website. Although I had no idea what it was, it almost knew it was supposed to have me! It’s known as the “Harvard of Court Reporting Schools”. I just thought, “Hmm, THAT’S WHERE I WANT TO GO!” Sounded good to me! Only problem, this school was in CALIFORNIA and I was in MASSACHUSETTS.

But the funny thing with this is that I had always secretly (no pun intended 😉 wanted to live in Cali. The ocean, the palm trees, the surfer dudes… WEST COAST! It was a dream come true for a 20 year old single female looking to start the next chapter of her life. HELL YES! Too bad everyone in my life thought “HELL NO, NAURA! Are you crazy? How do you think you are going to just pack up and move 3,000 miles away? ON THE COMPLETE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY?!” Especially when this school didn’t have dorms, and I had never seen a steno machine in my life, and had no idea what being a Bryan graduate would entail. But I didn’t need to know HOW. I just knew that I WAS going, and I was going to succeed at this!!

I then remembered that my Dad has three sisters who live together in California. I rummaged through my Mom’s old address book and looked up their address, looked up the address of my soon to be school, and did a Mapquest. Guess what? In ALL OF CALIFORNIA, the entire huge state… the school was 20 MILES FROM MY AUNTS’ HOUSE, which did I mention is a WALK from the beach?? Back in MA, the beach for us is a full out day trip. I jumped out of my chair faster than I knew I could move and ran upstairs to give my parents the new info, and even they were a bit shocked.

Guess what else? Out of the three aunts living there, one was actually planning to move back East for a while to be with my Grandma… THAT VERY MONTH. Basically there would just so happen to be an extra bedroom at their house opening up.

My dad’s friend also JUST SO HAPPENED to be driving cross country for a vacation at the exact time I needed to get my (SOON TO BE BRAND NEW) car there, and said he would gladly take it, in return for a mere plane ticket home.

He would end up taking all my belongings along with the brand new car that I somehow also manifested at the exact time I needed it. My dad told me he was looking into getting me a new car because there happened to be some 0% interest thing going on, so he (my penny-pinching pops, might I add) went ahead and bought it for me!! I had never had a NEW car in my life… but of course had always WANTED one. Everything I wanted, I started getting all the sudden. I was amazed. Everything was happening at once, and SO quickly. I was on cloud nine.

My parents and I flew to California to check out the school the following month, and what do you know… I LOVED IT! It was just as I had “imagined.” I wonder why that is… *wink WINK.* I signed up to enroll for that September, and the rest is history.

I also feel the need to include that I am excelling RAPIDLY through this program. It isn’t a challenge for me at all. I knew it wouldn’t be. Teachers and fellow students are amazed at my progress. My initial class started out with 30 students and there are only 5 of us left. As others drop out left and right, and constantly ask me HOW I DO IT, I just tell them that I love it. Because I do love it. And it makes all the difference.

I somehow went from being CLUELESS about my life to bringing this entire new better life into being, and it was absolutely effortless.

Little did I know, the aunts that I moved in with, I kid you not, are PRACTITIONERS at Michael Beckwith’s Agape Spiritual Center, and they KNOW and work with the guy. Their house is like a library chock full of books and tapes and DVDs galore on ALL of this stuff!! I had no idea about all this I like to call “Californian mentality” at the time, but once they sat me down and had me watch The Secret with them, I had goosebumps all over my entire body. I finally understood everything. It was one of the craziest moments of my life!! Everything just fell into place, and I am exactly where I want to be right now. And since all we ever have is “right now,” basically my entire life has changed for the better.

I mean, since then, ever since I moved out West and did this, my life has become ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! EVERYTHING GOES MY WAY ALL THE TIME, all these little examples EVERY DAY and I’m like, “OOH! There’s that Secret again,” and chuckle to myself. I won’t go into all the little details (although I could go on about this stuff for HOURS, my post is getting a little long here!), but I have shared The Secret with all my friends and family back in Massachusetts and came on here to hopefully share it with others as well.

I want everyone to realize that WE HAVE THE POWER!!! It all starts with putting a smile on your faces RIGHT NOW. Get out there and LIVE IT UP, PEOPLE!!! DO whatever you have to do to GET HAPPY. Even if it seems IMPOSSIBLE. It’s not. Just DO IT, and KNOW that YOU CAN. Because you can. WE ALL CAN! And everyone deserves this! Some of my friends still look at me like I’m crazy. But I pity them, because WHO’S THE ONE LIVING A FABULOUS LIFE IN CALIFORN-I.A HERE!?!? Just give it a try. OPEN YOUR MINDS TO SOMETHING NEW. I’m telling you, it’s so worth it.

We’re the ones who have created everything around us anyway, SO WHY NOT START CREATING GREAT THINGS?! I am SO unbelievably grateful to have figured this out, and CANNOT WAIT TO LIVE the 80 something remaining years of this truly WONDERFUL LIFE. Yaaay!
