I have heard about The Secret since my last year in college of 2007. From that period of time it has landed me my dream job, and as of 2 months ago it landed me in my first home. It was very crazy how everything ended up happening.

I told myself, “When I turn 25 I will buy my first townhouse.” Once I got my loan I was hunting and hunting for the right place for the cheapest price. And I was definitely on a deadline because by mid April I had to go out of town for 3 months for my job. So I was in crunch time. I found the townhouse I wanted, made sure that the townhouse wasn’t on a contract, so we put an offer in.

I have looked at this townhouse every day on the internet – and I would go there every other day as if I was living there. I visualized how the furniture would be arranged and so much more.

After about a week and a half, my realtor told me that someone outbid me so I had to look for another place. I wasn’t too worried about it because I kept telling myself that house was mine, even though I continued to look for different places, I still would drive past that townhouse every other day like I had been doing.

To my amazement my realtor emailed me and said the bank is considering my offer since the people that outbid me their loan didn’t fully go through and so they wanted to know if I was still interested in buying the townhouse. Of course I said yes and even though this was my first time buying a home, I was on my p’s and q’s on everything. I kept everything documented. Always made sure the banks and my realtors got my signatures on certain documents. Now mind you, now that I have my home under contract which was in the middle of March I was still waiting for a closing date. And I would leave by April 18th for 3 months for my job.

I told everyone the good news that I got my townhouse, and everyone would ask me when was my closing date, and for some weird reason I said April 15th was my closing date. I kept telling that to everyone April 15th is when I would sign my papers and get my keys.

Well, time was ticking. I was packing my clothes getting ready for my flight and by this time I kept emailing my realtor to see if the title company had come up with a closing date. I got an email the next morning and my mouth dropped when she said my closing date would be April 16th. Even though I was one day off. 😉 I just knew it, it really didn’t hit me until that day because I was still in shock.

So now I can finally say I am a proud first time home owner, and it definitely won’t be the last since I have a blueprint in my head (maybe I should have it on paper) on how I want my life to go about. All thanks to reading and owning the DVD The Secret. Everyone will have setbacks but it will be up to you whether it will make you or break you. The power of the mind is very real. Don’t abuse it, utilize it.
