My Dream Job!!!
Submitted by: Merici T
Wilmington, CAI'm a single mom of a 4 year old little girl, work full-time, and go to school part-time majoring in Business Admin w/ Real Estate emphasis.
I’ve been living the Secret for the last 2 years, but now the happiness that has radiated through me is paying off.
I’m currently working at a dental office. I’ve been applying for a state job (any state job) for the benefits, but I’ve always wanted a state job with the department of real estate. The opportunity came for me to take an exam in Sacramento, so I flew out there, bought a nice suit, rented a nice car – all at my own expense. People said I was crazy spending money on an exam that wouldn’t assure me a job, and all I responded with was, “It’ll pay off. I will pay off my credit card and I will receive double back in money from the job I will get after I pass the exam.” Yay, I sure enough passed the exam.
I was called for an interview a few months after, with – yes – the department of real estate. The day before my interview I went shopping for a birthday gift, and as soon as I walked into the clothing store I saw the perfect suit for my interview. I bought it, I went to my interview, and as I walked in through the double doors I saw the huge silver state of California seal. WOW I was thankful to be in the building at that time. I saw employees walk in with their badges, but since I was a visitor I had to check in with security. I thought to myself, “I will walk with an employee badge in a few days.”
During my interview I told the panel, “I’m soooo happy and grateful to be here in front of you, and I know this job will give me a foot in the door to my career, my future.” The interview went great. They said, “It’s a pleasure meeting you,” and I replied, “Thank you sooo much. I’ll see you.”
I parked my car at a parking structure that day. That afternoon I was going through my wallet and throwing away old receipts, including the one from the parking structure. I knew it wouldn’t be right to discard the parking structure receipt, so I picked it up, unfolded it, and in the back of the receipt it said “Thank You”. I immediately placed it on my desk as a reminder that I will get the job.
Yesterday my current boss was talking to me about cutting our pay or laying off employees. I turned to my coworker and said, “I want the department of real estate to call me today. It would be so good, not only for me, but a relief to my boss as well.” A few minutes later I received a call from the department of real estate wanting me to be a part of their team. I cried with joy. Finally the Universe did respond.
I’ve remained calm throughout difficult situations at work, school, and home. I’ve laughed about all the negativity that I hear. Whatever challenges arise seem to flow right through me. I could honestly for the first time say that I have found the inner peace and happiness from within me, and all I can say is, “Thank you, thank you”.
