My Computer: From Rags to Riches
Submitted by: Kyle Coffman
Chico, CAWhen I was about 10 or 11 I started developing an interest in computers. I didn’t own one of my own and never had before, but when I went to school I could not wait to go to the computer lab.
As my interest in computers grew, so did my desire to posess my own. My grandmother, knowing of my passion, generously went to Best Buy with me in 2001 and bought me my first computer.
About 3 or 4 years after recieving this computer I knew it was time for a new one. I was getting into gaming, and other things that the PC I owned at the time couldn’t handle so well.
One day I decided to browse the internet to see what kind of computers were out there. I found the company Alienware, a PC brand largely known for its amazing merchandise. As most things in life, it came with an amazing price tag.
On a regular basis I would go to their website, custom build my own PC, send it to my shopping cart, and just think, “I am going to own one of those soon!” I had this mind set long before “The Secret” was ever released.
I would build these “dream machines” online with the customization options and the price tag would usually come out anywhere from $4,000 to $5,000.
In 2004 I scrounged up enough cash to build my own PC. It wasn’t by any means an Alienware, and infact only totalled out at about $900. However it was a step up, and I still didn’t give up hope on my Alienware.
I continued this excerise as time and technology progressed until around the end of last year (2006) when the computer I had built began to malfunction.
My grandmother knew what an important roll in my life computers were and figured she might as well go all out and buy an awsome computer for me so that we wouldn’t have to buy a new crappy one every 2-3 years.
My grandmother is not by any means wealthy, just middle-class. She asked me what I was interested in and I told her I had always wanted an Alienware. I built the computer and the price tag ended up being $4,500.
Sure enough a month or so later, I had my “dream machine”. She bought it for me and I was estatic. A few months later I watched “The Secret” and realized that the actions that I took is what brought the computer to me.
I am a firm believer in “The Secret” and use it on a daily basis with outstanding results! This just goes to show that if you know you are going to get it you will!
I am 18 now and I love my Alienware. It is one of the best gifts if not THE BEST gift I have ever recieved.
