My Angel Bear
Submitted by: Kelly
DunnI am a small business owner with a Bachelors in Social Work. My life has been challenging to put it mildly, and my two children are the love and light that has guided me and kept me from losing hope throughout the years. Seven years ago I met a man who has brought new challenges, love, laughter, and three very special step children into my life.
I have always struggled with deep depression, stress, and anxiety. While getting my Bachelors in Social Work (BSW), I learned much about self-care, and many strategies to work on these issues. Still, I constantly struggled to remain positive and keep moving forward through seemingly constant adversity.
One constant throughout my life has been my many pets (dogs, cats, horses,) who have added warmth and love to my life. Since The Secret has become part of my life I continue to become a happier and healthier person with a more positive outlook on life. Many exciting and quite extraordinary things have happened in the last six months… the one I would like to share is my latest love, “Maggie May”…
I have always wanted a ‘Foo Foo’, as I call little dogs, but have never been able to afford one. Last Christmas we were going through a real rough spot with the business. Money was tight and stress was miles high. We were walking out of the grocery store and there on the wall was a picture of 2 little Shitzu/Bichon Frise puppies for sale. One was soooo cute it made my heart swell, and a smile that came from my toes lit my face. I said to my partner, “Terry. she looks just like my little angel beany bear that I keep at my desk!”
The very next week a fellow social worker walked into our store with the same 2 puppies, and offered us our pick for $200.00 – first vet visit, shots, de-worming included. I was so surprised I had tears in my eyes as Terry said, “Merry Chrismas, babe,” with his biggest grin.
Maggie May, or “Boo Bear”, as we call her, is an ANGEL, and has brought pure sunshine, love, and tons of laughter into our life.
The SECRET constantly enhances our lives, and has brought clarity to so many burning questions that I have pondered as a person and as a Social Worker. I am grateful.
