I’ve been trying a long time ago to fit easier into a group, to gain confidence, to respect myself and to have really good friends. I read “The Secret” for the first time in 2013 but I never really put it to practice until last month. That was when I decided to go for what I wanted after thinking that nothing worked out for me because I had such negative self talk. So I started to visualize myself meeting really nice people, hanging out with them and becoming best friends. I started to imagine myself talking to different guys, which was something that I am not very used to.

After two weeks I went to the United States, I’m from Uruguay, for a student exchange. The second day there my host brother who is one year older than me, invited me to have dinner with his friends and then go to a party at one of his friend’s home. I said I’d go without letting myself think too much before my mind could convince me to just stay home with my host family. While he was taking us there, I just wanted to relax and focus on how I wanted to feel. I kept telling myself “I am relaxed and funny”, and I visualized myself having fun and meeting new people at the party. So after a few minutes I started to feel really good. I started to talk more with my brother and I was feeling very confident.

I met his friends at the dinner. I had fun and my host brother treated me really well, I felt like he was my real brother. Then at the beginning of the party I met a lot of boys that were very curious to know about my country. They invited me to play games that I never played before and I had so much fun. They said I was a really good player for someone playing for the first time. Later, more people arrived to the party. I met a group of girls and we talked all night. I received many good compliments about my accent and my personality. I’ve never been the kind of girl that goes to parties and has real fun there, but that night showed me what I am capable of by just thinking positive and focusing on what I want.

During the following days, I can’t express to you how confident I felt with the boys compared to what I used to feel. I met new guys and we had long talks. That was something that never used to happen to me before.

Your mind wants to play tricky games sometimes. But, if you convince yourself that you are what you believe and that you are capable of being whatever you want, it will easily come to your life if you just believe it! Let go of anything that makes you believe the opposite! You are what you decide to be, no matter what anyone else may tell you.
