Martha Stewart’s Hydrangeas
Submitted by: Jen Neff
Canton, OhioI am a mother and editor. I've been married (to the same guy!!) over 30 years). I have two obnoxious golden retrievers and too many cats to admit.
I practiced The Secret without even knowing it. A couple years ago, I saw the cover of Martha Stewart’s magazine with a lovely New England cottage. The cottage was gray and white with a white fence crowded over and under and through with beautiful blue hydrangeas. I had a couple hydrangea bushes too–but nothing as lush and gorgeous as these. The picture was so striking that I saved it and put it on my refrigerator. In the following months, I never paid much attention to it but it remained there and I must have seen it subconsciously. In the meantime, I read “The Secret” and enjoyed it but was somewhat skeptical. But then last summer as I walked to the mailbox, I caught something out of the corner of my eye–the white fence surrounding my porch and the lush blue hydrangeas poking through the openings. It made me smile and it reminded me of something that I just couldn’t place. It looked gorgeous. Weeks later, I noticed the magazine picture. It all clicked. It looked like my front yard! As a lifelong skeptic, I could hardly believe it. But it was true–and it was all so easy. Thank you to Rhonda for making me a believer.
