My journey started about 5 years ago with The Secret when me and a friend were discussing what our dream jobs looked like. I mentioned working in a role that quite simply did not exist at a regional level and that was working full time as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leader. My friend told me to manifest my dream job and I was not actually sure how to do this, so she encouraged me to read The Secret. Her mum got her a copy when she was going through a tough time in her life, and she gave me her copy to read.

I started to read the book and everything made sense to me, I realized that I have been using The Secret in the past only I called it the law of attraction. I then got distracted and stopped reading the book and then my friend asked for the book back.

I forgot about my dream job and after a couple of years, I found myself at a crossroads. One of my mentors asked me what job I would like to do next. I said I wanted to be a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leader. She said these roles do not exist so asked me to look at other roles. At that stage, I remembered The Secret so I ordered a copy for myself and started reading because I was determined to get my dream job. I purchased a gratitude journal because Rhonda states you must be grateful for what you have now to bring more of what you desire to you. Every day I wrote how grateful I was for the job I have now, I would write how grateful I was for my dream job as a DE&I Leader, and I would visualize telling my boss and my team that I was leaving to start my new role. I even ordered a name badge with my new title because I honestly believed the job was mine although the role did not exist at the time.

Literally the following week, I got a call from a senior leader telling me that 2 new roles will be created for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leaders for the region. I wasn’t shocked at the time as I expected to hear something because I believed this time.

I am delighted to say I got one of those roles and although it was temporary for 6 months, I managed to do it for 2 years. I am now asking for a similar role but in a permanent position and for double the salary. I will share this story soon because I know this is happening as we speak. How do I know? Because I truly believe what I’ve asked for will come true.
