I was a young boy of 18 years of age and lived with my parents in a loving home. I loved music very much and there was a small radio that belonged to my parents that I used to play. However, that radio didn’t have powerful sound at all and I wished my parents would buy a better radio but I knew they did not have money to buy one so I just kept quiet and did not ask them.

Not long afterwards there was a technics Hifi advert on TV that was played almost every day. I loved the Hifi and recorded that advert on our VCR. Every day when I came back from school I would replay the advert on slow motion and pause it so that I could see the names of the buttons on the Hifi. I memorised all the buttons and how every thing on it was placed and would play it over and over again every day. Then one day my mother finally yelled at me and told me she was sick and tired of the recording. Days went by and one day I found a small piece of paper in my parents bedroom which had the picture of the Hifi. It was on the floor and I picked it up and took it to my room and wondered where it came from.

A few weeks later my father came back from the trip he had taken to Capetown and to my surprise, he brought home the Hifi exactly as I saw it on TV.
