Made My Dream Come True
I have wanted to be an actress for years now. To me it was never about fame or fortune it is about the art and wanting to share my passion with others. The Secret helped me do this, and I am eternally grateful for that.
So, everybody knows that breaking into show business is hard, and people were always telling me, “Oh it might take years,” and “it is a tough business you really are gonna have to hang in there.” For the longest time I excepted that. So, guess what? It was tough. Getting jobs was a struggle and for almost 2 years I felt like I just had to hang in there. I wasn’t necessarily negative, but I certainly didn’t expect all my dreams to come true any time soon.
Then I found The Secret and realized I was wrong. I didn’t have to “hang in there”. The universe and business and casting directors are on my side. That is when I started to believe that I would get big roles. I went online and typed up my ideal resume. I made it look very professional and now I had my first goal: A part in a mainstream movie. I had hung it up on my mirror so I could look at it every day but soon I forgot about it.
I had this struggle for years between my dream of pursuing acting and traveling the world. Specifically I wanted to go to Europe. I had given up on Europe and decided just to work on acting. Every night before I went to bed i would feel my astonishment at the amazing role and opportunity I got. I had no idea how it would happen but it always felt like a miracle when I imagined it. I kept this optimism wherever I went. I believed I was now a professional actress.
Then my friend from acting class said for her birthday that she wanted to take a 2 day road trip to L.A. and take a workshop there. I was overly excited and I didn’t know why. But instead of telling my self not to get my hopes up I held on to the excitement. We got to L.A. and took the workshop. The person who taught it was a casting director and that is when it happened! Out of 25 people in the class he said I would be perfect for this movie and that I should audition. I was ecstatic but told him I was leaving tomorrow with my friend. He looked very disappointed and just kind of “hhhmmed” about it.
Instead of freaking out and getting all mad and disappointed about the missed opportunity, I went into the bathroom, calmed down and focused on being thankful that he picked me out of the crowd. Just as I was walking back to the classroom he stopped me in the hall and said that he would film my audition right now. I was surprised and shocked that he would have me cold read for such a huge audition but he took me into the room with the other directer he had just called camera etc. I did the cold read and he said he would send it off, but I had his recommendation and that pretty much I had the part.
That isn’t the best part. Wanna know what is? Guess where the movie is being shot?
ALL my dreams came true. There were others with far more experienced for this role and I got picked. Everyday I feel the astonishment that I felt before I even got the part. Because of The Secret I am living my dream.
I don’t want to put any names or impede on the directors privacy or creative rights. Basically I got the second largest female role. I will play the main character’s best friend. I just wanted to tell everyone that you have to believe no matter how unlikely it seems. No matter how many no’s you get expect the yes.
