It started with the extra chicken. It was just a little thing but after two weeks of illness and time to really stop and retune, it mattered.

We sat in the drive through queue for 25 minutes, browsing the online menu, and decided to get a 4 piece chicken meal, one for each of us. When we finally arrived at the menu and order point, that was not an option and so we ordered the  6 piece family bucket and the dog would just get less! About 15 minutes later, we opened the bucket at home, and I looked at the chicken. I saw that we had been given 8 pieces! Thus, we ended up with a 4 piece chicken meal, one for each of us, just as we had wanted! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Two days later, I lay in bed trying to get to sleep and thought about how I would love to have croissants for breakfast. I have not had one for a couple of years, and having just booked a holiday to France, they were on my mind. Before slipping into sleep, I briefly contemplated getting up early to go out and buy some.

The following morning I had forgotten all about my craving. My husband popped out to a meeting and a coworker handed him a bag saying “These are for your wife.” And yes! Inside that bag, there were 3 croissants! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Then about two days later I was eating my breakfast which contained mushrooms. That evening we were going to dinner at a friend’s place and I pondered what she might be cooking. As an aside, I said to myself “It won’t contain mushrooms” as my friend does not like them. When we arrived for dinner, our friend had cooked a roast beef dinner. “I don”t know why,” she told us, “but I did some mushrooms with it, I know they do not really go together but I thought you might like them.” I told her about my week of foodie manifestations and she laughed and said that clearly, the Universe had made her buy the mushrooms.

These are just three silly little things but they were all received through non-attachment to the outcome. However, they are very welcome reminders that the Universe is always paying attention to our desires.
