Throwback a few years ago, I had always been dreaming about living in a European country and marrying a European guy who would be the love of my life. I had tried everything that I could do to reach that dream but God had another plan for me at that time. I got a new job and started to get busy with my life, my new boyfriend and my new job until I forgot about those dreams.

Earlier this year, things were falling apart in my life. My relationship was broken, my best friend moved to another country for study, and there was a big lay off in my company that caused half of my colleagues on my team to have to leave the company. I was so sad and depressed and I had no idea about my future at all. I felt like I was completely lost.

After coming back from two weeks vacation in some of the cities in Europe, I suddenly felt something telling me to follow my dreams. The dreams that I had let go of few years ago. I never thought about these dreams anymore but suddenly they came back again and they were much stronger this time.

Following my dreams meant that I would have to leave my comfort zone, leave my family and friends in Indonesia, leave my job that was now already stable and secure and finding a new job and starting my life in a new city all over again, alone. But just thinking about that decision gave me a strong passion for life again, I knew what I wanted in my life, I knew what my life goals were. This time, I would not give up easily. I would try my best to follow my dreams.

I visited Paris 3 times and I always fall in love with that city each time. I could imagine my future self living there and so I made the decision that I want to live and work in Paris. I knew finding a job in Paris as a foreigner who comes from Indonesia would not be an easy thing to do. But I kept my faith believing that I would be there soon to work and live because if the Universe told me to follow my dreams, it would have a way for me to get there.

I knew about The Secret a few years ago after I broke up with my boyfriend and it helped me a lot. It brought so much energy and positivity into my life. After I reread it again and also read Hero, I truly believed that I made the right decision to follow my dream and that I all my dreams would coming true, no matter what the situation was.

I tried my best to apply for jobs in Paris. A few companies sent me a rejection emails. It was hard and made me feel sad but I would not give up. I kept sending job applications to companies. I tried my best to stay positive and imagined my future self living there. I also prepared all the things that I needed for my move to Paris, such as browsing for an apartment, preparing the visa forms, preparing my clothes to bring there, browsing for a French course in Paris, browsing flight tickets and much more. I didn’t let any negativity enter my mind and I kept believing that I would start living and working in Paris in October. I tried to keep myself relaxed and enjoying my life.

Then one day when I was so happy after hanging out with my friends, I received an email from a company saying that I got the job and I can start it in October!! It is a job in a company that I really wanted and with the salary that I expected. I also got a working visa for more than a year in France. I am so excited and really grateful for this!

Now I am preparing my relocation to Paris for my new job. The decision to follow my dreams was a life changing decision in my life. It might be the biggest and the bravest decision that I have ever made in my life but I am so thankful and grateful that I took that decision. Thank you to The Secret for always inspiring me to follow my dreams.
