Lessons for daily life
In the past years, I had the privilege of entering a highly competitive residency program. On top of hard work, for the ‘luck’ component I used tips from Jack Canfield’s book, ‘Live your Dreams’ which was a great inspiration. In competitive situations, groundwork may be a basis, but it is never enough.
Fast forward to my new life and dream program. I don’t really know why, but my life had been covered by a mini dark cloud for more than a year: a stolen wallet, broken things in my home, car breakdowns at the worst moments, professional troubles, administrative errors. Luckily everything stayed good with my health and all these things could be fixed! Even the most down-to-earth people would tell me, “Something wrong? Again?! Spooky.” Even though I am and am viewed as a person on the side of light, laughter, and positive energy, my life had become heavy, my work that I was so passionate about was done with great labor, and I lived with anxiety and fear too, sometimes. A peak was reached when my colleague told me: “Wow, you’re like… a problem girl.” Me? Problem girl? With the gifted life I’d had so far?
I made two resolutions. First I decided that I wanted to get rid of fear, as nothing good ever comes out of it. Secondly I asked myself, would it require so much more energy going through my day with a positive attitude as opposed to complaining all the time about everything that wasn’t perfect or even neutral around me?
So by some fluke that I don’t remember at this point, I started re-watching The Secret. I got more out of the movie. I have also familiarized myself with the two free e-books on the site and read stories frequently. They are such a boost.
For a month, I have expressed gratitude daily, written or in thought, including and sometimes mixing what is in my life now and what I want. I also include affirmations specific to me, as well as the one included in the Master-Key System which starts with, “I am whole, perfect…” I use positive statements either to fill my idle thinking time, or when I start grumbling in my head about something. I don’t have a vision board, but I do have a scrap book with things I like and want or want more of.
The changes have been UNBELIEVABLE. The series of annoyances is OVER, finished. People that I interact with have become even nicer to me, offering to help me with things I need to do, or looking for various information. I have had unexpected perks, like a free magazine or a half-price on a computer item. I frequently see patients that are aggressive from the wait in the emergency room, and now see patients who praise me for working a 24-hour shift and wish me courage for the rest of the night. My work and daily activities feel light, I feel like I have more time to do what I need to do in a day, friends I haven’t spoken to in an eternity are coming out of nowhere to reconnect, it’s fantastic. It’s like the world rushing your way to make your day better.
So the point is that while obtaining your dream (insert dream) feels fantastic, what is even greater is the added beauty to daily situations that comes from maintaining inner joy. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
