My Secret Journey,
One night, I was at home and decided to watch Netflix. That was when I stumbled upon The Secret. I remember someone telling me to watch it on DVD a while back, but I never did and forgot about it. However, now that I’ve finally watched it, I feel like my life has taken on a whole new meaning, even though I already thought it was pretty good for the most part. After watching the show, I took many notes and went through many tissues. Now, I feel the need to share my journey.
I initially skimmed through The Secret book to see what it was about. Then, I reread the book, took notes, and made highlights. I think the whole book is highlighted with many sticky notes! Then, I cried some more. For some reason, I have been having a lot of mini cries, but they are actually happy tears.
I have been writing on my bathroom mirror for a while now. I think it’s a good habit because it’s the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. I don’t mind if other people see it, and honestly, no one who has seen it has ever said anything about it. I find that writing on the mirror helps me remember and internalize all the positive advice I come across.
I have made a few changes since reading “The Secret” and moving on to The Magic book, but what remains is Albert Einstein’s quote and the saying; “Life is truly phenomenal.” Right below it, I have written, “YES IT IS!” I also have “BELIEVE” in caps on there too. All these things truly make me think that my life is a blessing and very magical as long as I believe.
I have started a vision board that includes images of my dream home and places I want to revisit, along with the Wellendorf ring I hope to purchase one day. I’ve also added pictures of myself on an excavator and in my Ford Escape. I included these because I’ve realized that things really do work out in your favor. For instance, I’ve always wanted an SUV, and now I have one. I also became interested in operating heavy equipment and ended up taking an excavator course in Winfield, BC within a year. I asked for these things, and I received them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
So, really, I was asking and believing in things before; I just never realized that I could achieve them. They are now on my board as a reminder that good things do come to you in time and when you ask.
I have printed the Optimist Creed, which I read every morning. I start off by saying, “Today I Promise Myself,” and then express gratitude. This routine makes me feel good. I have also printed off The Secret Cheque. Initially, I had written an amount on it, but after some consideration, I realized it wasn’t what I truly wanted. So, I printed a new cheque with a different amount that I’m happy with. Every morning, after reading my promise to myself, I take the cheque, frame it, hold it to my heart, and look at my vision board. This routine sets a positive tone for the day!
Throughout my life, I have volunteered for different organizations and always wanted to teach people to read and write. After reading The Secret, I finally said to myself that now is the time to start doing it and not just say it. I have not volunteered in a few years and missed it horribly. I signed up for two nonprofit organizations and was accepted into a program for literacy. Man, oh man, it feels good to say that. Sometimes, you have to do a little work to find something you really enjoy.
I have also come to the conclusion that when it comes to getting to and from work, I was always driving like a mad man and not very cautious. Well, now my main concern for getting to work is this: “As long as I make it safely and pay attention to my surroundings, all will be okay.” I have also not received a speeding ticket or photo radar since changing my views on how to get to work. Life is not always fun driving in the fast lane.
The big thing for me in this book was changing your thoughts! And I can tell you that this is where I struggle the most. Now I know what I want out of life, and I know each step in my process will come in time. That is why I have chosen to work on one area at a time or one dream at a time. It’s what works best for me, and I am the only one who knows what I really want. And baby steps are always reasonable steps.
I often found my mind racing in 50 different directions, usually not in a good way or with positive thoughts. Now, I carry a Magic Rock with me or wear it around my neck. I actually found it on the beach in Victoria, BC, only to later find out it was a shell. I’ve always wondered if it mattered whether it was a rock or not, but I think whatever you carry, if it gives you good vibes, go with it. I really like my newfound friend. When I’m wearing it, I find myself holding it and thinking really lovely and positive thoughts.
Much has changed since I started reading both books. I have received gifts and cheques in the mail and was accepted for the literacy program. I even think I have helped my roommate stay grounded on some of his life decisions. Not that he would ever agree with that, but so be it.
So thank you to the Universe for bringing good things to me and to The Secret for sharing your wisdom. I have since started doing The Magic practices and can tell you that I am on day 5. It has been a wonderful journey. I will share more once I am finished with the 28 days of The Magic practices journey.
So again, thank you, thank you, thank you!
