My friend gave me the book ‘The Secret’ when I was 17, I’m 23 now. I had probably read it 2 or 3 times or just picked it up and read random pages but never really used it. Every time I felt low I would read it but never followed through on it when I felt back to normal again. This was my mistake.

I’d always imagined travelling and being in a hot country. Ever since I was 19 I wanted to do this. Last year everything went wrong for me. I was in a relationship that was and had been broken for quite a while. I was in a job that I hated and only stayed at for the money and because of all the stress of it, my health was terrible. I was a little over 6 stone. I felt trapped and stuck and couldn’t imagine what was going to happen to me in the future.

Then something in me just snapped and I made myself think positively no matter how bad I felt. At first I kept going back into a negative frequency but after a while it worked.

I left my partner, I quit my job and before I could think anything through, I picked up the phone to a travel agency and booked my flights to Australia to travel for a year. I’m here now. Absolutely loving life.

My advice to you, if you’re sceptical of The Secret? Just try it. What have you got to lose? I’m a firm believer that positive thinking changes everything now and I use it on a daily basis.

I’m so grateful to my friend for giving me this book all these years ago and grateful to myself for hanging on to it for whatever reason. I take The Secret all over Australia with me. Just in case.
