Japan, A Dream Come True!
Submitted by: Mrugakshi
Pune, IndiaA girl living in Japan with one particular dream.
I want to share the story which I treasure the most.
At a very young age, probably 10, I was attracted to Japanese culture like martial arts, dolls, anime and the language. I tried a couple of times to learn the language mainly to watch anime, but ended up giving up due to other priorities.
After graduating from high school, people around me started asking me about my future, like what did I want to become or pursue in my life. I always replied to them saying “I want to visit Japan but not with my parents money or my earned money. Someone, maybe a company or government, will provide all the funds for the visit”. Friends and relatives ridiculed me and said I should think of a proper career rather than such dreams. I ignored those comments because I always thought a career can be made easily but going to Japan is a big achievement.
I started learning the Japanese language again at the age of 20 at the university, as a hobby. Then one day, my Japanese language teacher suggested to me to take an exam at the university and go to New Delhi for an interview. I did as she told me and guess what?!
I was the only one who got selected from my university and was 1 of the only 8 students from my country, for the Japan Government (MEXT) scholarship! The scholarship included my entire education fees, round trip tickets and monthly living allowances! The dream of not spending even 1 yen came true!
When the time came for my scholarship to end I felt bad thinking I would have to leave this wonderful country. I started looking for a job and before my scholarship ended, I had a job in hand!
It has been 3.5 years now of living in Japan, enjoying every bit of my life. In those 3.5 years, I was able to visit all the places I wanted to, learned Aikido which is a martial art of Japan, got a permanent job, recovered from all the allergies I had back at my home, earned the respect of all the people who did not support me before and met the guy I want to marry.
A friend had suggested The Secret book a few years ago but I never really read it until recently. I realised that I had applied all the laws well, to become the person I am now. From my experience, supporting yourself and believing in your dreams is the only thing needed to achieve anything in this world. But make sure you are clear about what you want. Just Believe in your dreams and never ever go back on your word.
Thank you to the Universe, The Power within me and The Secret.
