Brandon, FlI was raised in a family where they settled for life, and what I mean by settled is they believed nothing will get better. If I am in a bad situtaion, it will not get any better. I have had the worst life possible, but things are about to change.
I am 9 months pregnant, and I have a 2 year old daughter. My husband and I work less than 25 hours a week. We are struggling with life financially, and living together is getting very stressfull.
My best friend died one week ago. She has been in my life forever. She was my rock, the only one I could talk too. My world felt crushed. I felt like my life is just going down hill, not only were things not getting any better, they were about to get worse. She had two young beautiful daughters, and a loving husband Tony. I went to visit them last night, just to see how they were handling things now that mama is gone.
My husband and I couldn’t hold back our frustrations. They could read it in our eyes. So Tony spoke up, and he prayed. He told us to let the lord worry about our problems, and focus on what we want, and not what we don’t have. He said his wife worried herself to death.
At first we didn’t understand what Tony was talking about. He made many examples, and was telling us not to make these excuses, his words didn’t sink in. He gave us a movie and asked us to please watch the movie. My husband was skeptical, and told Tony that nothing will change just by watching a movie.
On our way home, we talked about how we will be able to pay our rent, electricity and other expenses without me working. Unfortunately, we both got more frustrated than before and argued the entire ride.
After putting our daughter to bed, we watched “The Secret”. It felt like we were magnets to the TV. It was all the things we already heard before, but it just felt as if the words were getting engraved in our brain! I told my husband this will really work, mark my words. “Tomorrow will be a different day.”
We woke up the next morning feeling tired, because we had stayed up late the night before. After breakfast we started to clean our house. When I look at my rooms now, I don’t remember the last time it was this clean and organized!
We picked a wall and named it “Ask and You Shall Receive”. My husband took a $1 bill and with a marker wrote 6 zeros next to the number one. He said his goal is to be a millionaire in five years. Usually I would have laughed, but I didn’t. I encouraged him to stay focused.
I asked him to check the mail, since we haven’t checked it in a long time, of course we have been avoiding bills. He came home with a stack full! I thought “oh God, final notices, tickets and hospital bills again”, but before I opened the first letter, I caught my self thinking negative. So I said “please be a check!” First letter looked like a speeding ticket. We opened it. It was a CHECK for $700!
We are speechless. The Secret is as effective. We just have to want it. We believe things will get better for us. Now I want the world to know.
