We were looking for a new house to move interstate and were unsuccessful at an auction. My wife preferred an apartment and I preferred a house. After the disappointment of the auction, we drove around the area killing time until we had to catch our flight back home. We stopped in a park admiring a very unique, small block of 15 apartments right on the oceanfront. We were aware of these apartment layouts from seeing previous sale ads. So I looked up at them, took a photo, and said to my wife, “If I was ever going to live in an apartment, I would want one of those upper floor, massive, 4 bedroom ones.” We speculated what the unique, top floor penthouse would be worth. I imagine that I said and thought that it could be far more than we had considered spending.

On returning home, I suggested to my wife that maybe we should send a letter to each apartment owner just in case they were thinking of selling soon, but we never got around to it. We continued dreaming of living in one of the large, upper floor apartments while looking at previous sale photos online.

Within a couple of weeks, and much to our shock, the top floor penthouse came on the market. Within the next week, we flew back to inspect it and fell in love. My wife insisted on making what I considered an embarrassingly low offer, considering we were the first to inspect it, and that it was very new on the market. Just one week later our offer was accepted, without waiting for other buyers to see it!

We now live in the most amazing, large, and unique penthouse apartment we could imagine! It takes up the entire floor, has a private rooftop level, a pool, overlooks the ocean sunrises and sunsets, and ticks off all our boxes plus more!
