19 Feb. 09 My girlfriend broke up with me after 2 years of living together. I’m a lesbian, and there are not so many of us in my little town of 80.000 people.

After some tears and weeks had gone by, my best friend and I decided to do something new, and see the world. This was right before graduation. We decided to travel to Bali, Indonesia for 4 months to study ex. phil and ex. fac.

Spring and summer flew by, and I was working everyday in a kindergarten all summer. I met a girl there, she was beautiful, and I fell for her. Of course! There was a lot more pros, than cons that it could be us. She was engaged to a boy she had been living with for 6 years. She had never been with a girl before. I was going to be on the other side of the planet from August till December, and last but not least, she did not know what i felt for her.

A few weeks before we were going to leave for Bali, my mom gave me “The Secret” book as a going away present, and I read it from cover to cover the same night. So, my focus was to find out if the girl from my job wanted me. The day before we were leaving, she told me she was in love with me, but I had to go. The first few weeks was terrible, because I felt like I was missing out on her, but then I started to look around. I was in paradise. The mix of the culture, the people, the peacefulness, and reading about the great philosophers everyday gave me a whole new way of seeing things. I had never been so happy in my life. But the day came. The day I was going back, and from the moment I put my feet on the plane I started thinking about the girl again, trying to figure out how to make her mine. It almost happened. But every time there was a gap and we went separate ways.

Another friend of mine was in the same situation and we spent a lot of time together talking about it. Suddenly, out of nowhere I felt happy, I felt a spark. I had known this girl all my life, and it was her I had been looking for. Now, a month later we are a happy couple. I love her so much.

The first girl wants me back now, but I have never been more sure about anything.

When you’re hooked on a special someone and you think that person is the answer to a perfect relationship, be careful. Don’t get stuck on who, how, and when, cause then you can destroy the big wish of a happy relationship to reach you.
