I Am Never Late!
Submitted by: Michchan
I am a second year medical student. My faculty is close to my residence. I live with my parents.
After I watched The Secret movie I found out that things work out when I completely convince myself that they will. Now the faculty I am attending is pretty close to where I live, about 15 minutes away so my parents, mainly my father, drives me there.
Once there was a morning Physiology lecture at 8 am and I chose to drive for a change with my mom accompanying me. When we were halfway there I checked the time and it was 8 am. Me and my mom changed seats and as we drove on, I concentrated and thought to myself, “Of course I am not late.” I repeated this several times in my head and I got there at 8:07 am, and the lecturer was late!!!! She went in just before me and did not make a comment about me being late!
Another time I completely forgot that I had a clinical practice, which was the last day of the session. I was relaxing at my house and my friend messaged me and said, it has already been 30 minutes. Where are you?
I got dressed and asked my parents to drop me off, and thankfully they only criticized my behavior for a few minutes.
Again I concentrated and repeatedly thought to myself, “Of course, it’s no big deal. No one would have noticed”. And I went to the hospital and actually, nobody said anything. The consultants were busy so our group had only been talking with the patients. Only my friends asked me why I was late, and I gave them an excuse that they accepted straight away. The thing is there are group leaders who monitor the group and normally they mark a register at the start, and attending clinical sessions is compulsory. This time they marked after the session ended!
I have done this several times and at one point a lecture even was canceled! I am having fun with this, even if this can be considered a bad habit.
