How To Make Yourself Happy.
Submitted by: Helena
SwedenI live in northern Sweden which means living in Sápmi. But I am not Sápmi. I just live and have all my family history on colonized land. Colonized by me, and my country. The country I love and want to contribute to in every way. This made a bitterness that had been hard to cope with.
For eleven years I had been stuck. I always felt like I was being dragged down to the first step of a ladder. But I made it through university anyway, following my heart. It was not easy but it was what I was supposed to do.
So when I made it through university I started to look for a job. Then I started to look for other jobs. Then I looked for freelance things to do. I tried to be a politician. I try to create my own business. I still work with the education I got 21 years ago as a starting point. I drive two hours per day on really bad roads to get to my work and I had always been afraid every day that my car would break or a wild animal might appear on the road.
Still I live in the most beautiful place on the earth. I live on a small farm by a big lake with clear water and I have a spring well by my house. I grow my own food and my own meat. I get to hunt in the forests as my ancestors did. I have the most beautiful man by my side. Our second home is in the mountains and we go there 2 to 4 times per year. I get to live, learn and play where my heart finds its peace.
Then I found The Secret Super App. I started by practicing gratitude. I could relate to that. But I did not see any change, so I did it some more. I now write down six things that I am grateful for per day and guess what?
I feel less bitterness, less stress, and more happiness, even though nothing in my work situation had changed. But guess what, again?
Last week I got a job interview and this week I got another! They are not my dream jobs yet, but still, this did not happen until I started to use the app and practice gratitude. I want this to be a turning point. I want to contribute to the world with my passion, my education, and my experience. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
