The Secret works in every country, in every life. Also in the Netherlands, in a tiny village.
Here’s my story.

First a little background:

I think everyone has suffered some in their past. So it’s no surprise that happened to me also.
Until I was 18 years old, my life was one big party. I had a job with great co-workers, I had a boyfriend, great friends and I lived with my parents, brother, dog, and 4 cats.

But one day everything changed. My last grandparent died, my parents were getting divorced, I had no time to grieve because I had to be there for the entire family, I lost my job, friends and boyfriend. It’s no surprise that I fell into a very big depression.

At the time I was 23 years. I finally managed to get out of this depression without any help. I was on my way to finding ‘myself’ back again. And when I had it finally, the next thing happened at the time I was 26 years old: Because of financial problems, my mother and I were kicked out of the house. We had to give up our pets and I stayed at a friends house for a few months. My mum found herself a new boyfriend (a very nice guy, I have to say) and she moved in with him. Then my dad was moving in with his new partner and I had the chance to live with my brother.

But one day my father broke up and he moved back in with us. I had to share my bedroom with him because there was only one bedroom in that tiny house. I had no job, no money, no friends. And I had about 3 hours a night to get some sleep. The only thing I had was the internet. I was truly unhappy and couldn’t find anything at that time to be grateful for. Also my relationship with my boyfriend at that time made me very unhappy. He never had time for me. On top of all this, I also was every day afraid to become sick. There is a name for it, but my apologies for not knowing it in English.

On April 20th this year, we (my dad, brother and I) got the opportunity to move to this great house with 3 bedrooms, bathroom, big kitchen, great garden etc. But at first it didn’t change my life that much. I still had to deal with my boyfriend, who also had been cheating on me 3 times! And it was also difficult for me to find a job.

And now my story which is related to The Secret, begins…

In July this year I still had no job. So I went to this institution to get money while I was looking for a job. They put me in a reintegration-project, where I was working 20 hours a week. At first I was still a little grey mouse, with only one best friend and no boyfriend, because I broke up with him. But then finally I started to open up a little bit more.

3 weeks later me and my boyfriend decided to give it one last try. At that time a new ‘reintegration-co worker’ joined us. She was so much different than anybody else. You could see the fire in her eyes. Someone who was grateful to life.

Surprise: September 28th I broke up again. Long story, but this guy was too difficult to handle and he made me feel negative about myself.

2 weeks later I went out with 2 girls, that new co-worker (I will call her ‘C’) and another colleague. C and I had some very interesting conversations and a day later she sent me a message on my phone about THIS site! I had the opportunity to watch the extended version of the movie. And immediately I felt more positive. I started to think different. And within a few weeks I had more friends, a better social life, and I started to ‘sparkle’ again.

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical about this Secret, so I tried some little things at first…

I had to cycle every day for 6 kilometers to get to my reintegration-job, and I had to pass a traffic light every morning and afternoon. I tried to visualize that the light turned green when I was coming. A few times I had to wait for like 3 seconds, but most of the times it turned green when I was approaching it. Coincidence? What about this: It’s no secret that it rains a lot in The Netherlands. And it’s no fun at all to cycle through storm and rain every day. So I WANTED it to be dry while I was cycling to my house. It worked every time! Just when I closed the door behind me, the rain began.

Somewhere late October we got the news that the people who are renting this house to us, didn’t want to extend the contract. My dad kind of let us down by not paying the rent on time and didn’t let us know. So I got this inspiring idea to visualize this house was mine and I contacted the owners of this house. November 1st, me and my brother became the ‘owners’. We are very short on cash right now, but I have good faith that everything will work out right and even better!

So what did The Secret do for me?

– It made me love myself.
– It gave me a positive feeling about me, people and life.
– It gave me my dreamhouse.
– It gave me 2 new best friends.
– People like having me around. I make them feel good and make them laugh.
– It’ll give me education (I got green light to go back to school!)
– It will give me more money, happiness and good feelings.
