How I Got My Dream Car.

Jakarta, IndonesiaAn expecting mom who dares to dream bigger.
Before I knew The Secret, I had always been a dreamer. I love the excitement of imagining how things should go and how I got the things I wanted. I feel happy just by imagining them. So, when I read and watched The Secret, I immediately experienced an ‘Aha’ moment because I finally understood why certain things happened in my life. It makes me dare to dream bigger.
There are many things that I have attracted but it will be too long to write them all here. So, I will just share the newest gift that ‘nature’ gave me.
I am now expecting, and in 4 months our little baby will be born. Since my husband and I didn’t have car, commuting to work had become a tricky problem that we faced. With a poor public transportation system in Jakarta, we were left with limited choices to go to work and it was getting more uncomfortable for me being pregnant to take public transportation.
We have always wanted to have a car. We put pictures of our dream cars on our room’s wall and on our desktop wallpaper. We put more money into our savings account since we found out we were having a baby and we didn’t go out that much. We printed The Magic Checks, went to used car dealers, browsed for used cars and did some test drives. But, still, we couldn’t get one because they were either out of our budget range or they didn’t fit our minimum requirements.
I felt like I wanted to give up. With our budget price range, we knew that we had limited options. I was confused about why things didn’t go well although we had tried everything we could.
Then I suddenly realized that we focused too much on ‘how’ we would get the car and not on ‘what’ we want. We did not focus on one car that we wanted and we kept the options open because we want to find any car that fit our budget. We forgot to feel grateful and believe that the car was ours already.
So, we rethought about what we really wanted, became more grateful and also an important thing, we relaxed, we let go. We felt like we had the car already, so we did not worry.
Last week, my husband mentioned a car dealer name and I told him that we should visit. When we arrived, we looked for the hatchback car that we wanted but unfortunately, they had no stock. The last hatchback car was just sold. Instead, they showed us a Station Wagon. We weren’t sure that we wanted it because the price was definitely out of our budget but we did the test drive anyway. When I got into the car, I was surprised that it had a panoramic roof. I was very excited because around 2 years ago, a colleague of drove me in her car and it had the same sunroof. I told myself that day I would have this kind of car. Another thing we liked was that it had plenty of space which would be useful when we had the baby. My husband also loved it because it was great to drive.
We left the dealer with a happy feeling even though we were still unsure if we could afford it or not. The money in our savings account was not sufficient. Long story short, my mother in law offered to help us with the down payment so we would have a lower monthly installment fee. Our application was approved in three days and this morning my husband drove me to the office with our beautiful car.
Thank you The Secret team for making The Secret books, movie, and website. Thank you to everyone who writes their stories here, they can brighten my day when I am down. Let’s be more grateful and let the Universe work in her magical way.
