How I attracted my husband!
Submitted by: Sandra
ChicagoI am a 22 year old married woman, who proved the saying, 'Hope is a mother of idiots' to be wrong. :)
Ever since I was small, I loved visualising things I desired or actions I wanted to happen. The feelings I felt gave me a sense of reality. I would say I had my own little imaginary world full of excitement, adventure, happiness, traveling, and most important – a husband! And I always knew I would meet him in The United States. Let’s say it was a dream I had.
I grew up in a middle class family in Lithuania, hearing usual phrases like, “You have to work hard to have anything,” “We cannot afford this or that, etc.” By the time I was finishing high school I knew I wanted to study in England. All I got from my parents was: “Sandra, you know we cannot afford this.” All I asked them was to let me go. That was the last step I had to take in a ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE process. I had to ACT and I did.
I went to England with 100 pounds in my pocket, which were the savings of my own. I really don’t know how everything worked out, but it did! By the way, I have to mention that I have been refused a place at University the year I applied for it, because my English language wasn’t up to the standard required. I took this as a sign that I am not ready and simply stayed in England, found myself a job, and waited until next September.
The time flew by, and I was a first year student at Sheffield Hallam University. One of my friends over there said: “Have you ever heard of Law of Attraction?” I didn’t have a clue what she was talking about, but out of curiosity I checked it out on YouTube and it really caught my attention. I ended up ordering a copy of the movie The Secret. All the exercises I was doing ALL MY LIFE have finally been given a name – Law of Attraction! I loved it! I even started playing with it! But the biggest challenge I gave to myself and the law of attraction was to meet my soul mate.
The things I have done are unbelievable. For example: I used to send an email to myself out of the same Inbox imagining it was my future husband writing to me, inviting me for a dinner, or simply sending me a quick note how much he loves me. Or I did even crazier things like text to myself imagining I was texting with HIM. Every night before I went to sleep I imagined going for a dinner with him. I imagined every single detail of it, what kind of music was playing, what kind of food we were eating, what kind of smell is there, and so on. One particular night I have even imagined him proposing to me! 🙂 Sounds really nuts, I know. After one year of these activities I really started feeling that I had a partner.
Second academic year, our lecturer informed as about possible placement in The United States for third year, and whoever wanted to apply was more than welcome. Can you believe that? Of course I was the first one to put my hand up!!!
To make the long story short, all second year I simply knew I would meet him on my placement and patiently waited…
Of course I passed all interview processes, visa processes, of course I saved enough money for the program and of course I did get that placement!
I was sent to one of the Chicago suburbs in July for a year. At the time I had a lot on my shoulders with work, studies, missing family back at Lithuania, and I forgot about my imaginary husband. In August there was a pool party organised at the club house in the apartment complex, and my flatmate literally dragged me there because I was far too tired after a long day of work. I was by myself sitting at a table, when here I have a very handsome man walk up to me and saying: “Can I sit down at the table?” I said, “Of course,” but not thinking too much of it (this was my future husband). He started chatting with me, asking what I do for a living, the usual stuff… I still didn’t think much of it.
After about two weeks I met the same guy at the pool again. He walked up to me and obviously wanted to know more of me. We ended up exchanging numbers and getting to know each other! By the end of our first date I knew that here is going to be something more… than just a date.
After a week I believe he said that he wants to marry and and that I am who he has been always looking for. Even for a big dreamer like me a week was too short. I couldn’t even believe that I had MET him! So I challenged law of attraction. I asked if he is the one, give me a sign of a text message at 11am sharp from him. Beep beep, here I have it at 11am sharp. I did a few other things… and law of attraction has never failed.
After four months of friendship he has proposed me with a ring and we got married later that month! We simply took this whole experience as an adventure because everything felt so right!!! After getting married we went to visit his family in Costa Rica, then we went to Miami, my dream city, after that we went together to Las Vegas, where I always wanted to see Celine Dion in concert. All this excitement I have dreamt for soooo long has finally came into physical form! We have also booked a vacation to Barbados in August before I go back to England to finish my degree for eight months.
To sum up, I have found out that if I would have been accepted to university the year I have applied for it, I would have never met my husband, because he wasn’t living in Chicago then. Everything and EVERYTHING that happens in this universe is for a purpose, and don’t get frustrated when things don’t happen the way YOU want them to.
This time next year we are planning to celebrate our wedding with our families in Costa Rica.
All you have to do is dream and the dream will be yours…
