Help Is On Its Way!
Submitted by: StellarS.
IrelandI'm 35, I have a daughter, a partner and two ready-made kids. I work supporting adults with learning disabilities, and I love nature, comedy and chocolate.
So my daughter struggles with her behaviour and attention span amongst other things. I have been aware of this since she was 4 years old. With her being 11 years old now, I was really starting to worry about how much longer either her or I could cope. About a year ago, one of her teachers finally said she agreed with me! Hallelujah, eh? She agreed that my daughter, Daisy, needed more support than we could give her. I had fought for years to get a professional to listen to me. The doctor would not do anything without agreement from her school, yet her previous school had said that she was fine.
So the teacher and I got in touch with the doctors and they referred her to the Children’s Centre for an assessment. We filled in questionnaires, the school did one too, then I get a letter back saying the waiting list is 12 to 15 months!
Twelve months later and I have had enough! I phone the Children’s Centre and tell them we are struggling. Both my and my daughter’s mental health are deteriorating. They were quite sharp on the phone with me. “Nothing we can do”, “She’s on the list”, “It’s only been 12 months”, the usual standard answers. I was just sick to my back teeth at the thought of her going to High School without the help that she needed.
Then one day I sit down and write an affirmation. “Daisy is happy, healthy, balanced and thriving. Her needs are met and she can reach her full potential.”
Three days later I get a call from the ‘waiting list support team’ that had only formed in January, three months prior to this call. The lady who called me was amazing. I cried and she cried. It was cathartic and she listened to me, she heard me and gave me actual, practical, help and support.
Two weeks later and I was still on a high, even though Daisy still did not have her assessment date yet. We were on their radar after 12 months of radio silence. Then out of the blue, I get a call, and the Children’s Centre has gotten a cancellation!
She was seen 4 days later. She got a full assessment by a Consultant and she has been referred to Counselling. Honestly, I cannot express my gratitude enough. Thank you to The Secret. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I decided that she was getting help. I took action, and the Universe cleared the way!!
