Hell To Hallelujah!

Lake Charles, LaI am married with 9 month old twin girls and a 4 year old step daughter. My wife is a stay at home mom. We live in Lake Charles, La, where I work at a chemical plant as an operator. My wife and I enjoy spending time with family and serving at our church as youth group leaders. We also enjoy exercising, cooking and playing with our girls.
I thought my life was in shambles. I walked out on a thriving business I had with friends because we couldn’t see eye to eye. All of the debt was under my name. I was then unemployed and forced to move back with my parents. They couldn’t help me. My sister tried to inspire me with a video called The Secret, but I was too far gone emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I didn’t think life could get worse until I got behind the wheel of my large truck while I was under the influence and ended up in jail with attempted murder on police officers charges.
I was tired and beaten down and now, apparently, with a lot of time on my hands. I asked my sister to send me a copy of the book The Secret. I spent two years in jail going to court in two different parishes (counties), fighting my case. During that time I read and believed and applied The Secret.
The courts finally allowed me to be temporarily released based on getting treatment for drugs and alcohol. After completing a program I was allowed to move into a group home still under the court’s authority. At that time I got a job cleaning restaurant kitchens at a resort making $7.50 an hour working nights. I also had to go to meetings and work a program that had a lot of similarities to The Secret. I visualized my life getting better every day and watched as it happened. I was then promoted to supervisor after 3 months and a manager after a year. It kept getting better. The courts let me go as a free citizen with nothing on my record as long as a small court fee was paid. Every day I would do my best to apply the law of attraction to my life. The management position landed me in a big city in charge of a large section of cleaning for a hotel. I was already making $10,000 more than I was when I graduated college with a bachelors in marketing working for a Fortune 500 company. After a year and knowing my worth I asked for more. I received another promotion and pay raise as the project manager of the large property that I started at making $7.50 an hour. Knowing my worth and practicing the asking and receiving landed me more raises. I was loving my job and success.
Eventually, the job was becoming less challenging and I knew I needed something else. I also wanted a family at this point and knew with my career that it would be difficult. I then asked for a job where I worked less hours, made more money and didn’t work all holidays and weekends. I wanted more time and money for a family. I then had a conversation with a friend about him remodeling his house. We start talking about his job and he makes more money and has more time off. He then tells me the local community college has a pilot program for people with a bachelor degree to earn an associates degree in 4 months and attain a career as a plant operator making 6 figures and working 6 months of the year.
The door opened as I had asked and I ran through it. It wasn’t easy at all. I was managing the property and going to school at the same time with 2 hours of sleep, 4 days a week for the whole summer. I then asked for a wife and two weeks later I met up with a childhood friend who became my wife. I was hired on as an intern to a plant before in my third month of school was over. I finished school and was hired on permanently, doubling my salary. I now make well over 6 figures a year and have 9 month old twin girls and a 4 year old step daughter. I’m loved in the community and a leader at my church. I have many good real friends and inspire people on a daily basis. I’m grateful for everything God has given me in life.
It’s been almost 10 years since I read The Secret for the first time and it has profoundly changed my life and it is not over. My story is a story of a drastic resurrection that took a long time and a lot of work. I didn’t have expectations of my life changing on a dime because you can’t turn a ship on a dime. You have to turn it slow and steady. The law of attraction is not easy. It takes dedication, discipline and hard work to consistently apply it to your life. It will bring you from hell to a great hallelujah when applied with passion. That’s the magic!
