The first and only time I used The Secret was in 2007. Now in 2014, I have picked the practice back up, but wanted to share my success story to give you hope and to remind myself it truly works.

I was in investment banking and disliked the group and company I was at. I was determined to find another job. I made a goal that I would have a job offer in 30 days.

Now the 30th day fell on a Sunday. I considered changing the goal to 31 days because, who really gets a job offer on a Sunday, right? But in the end I decided that I would rather have the job in a shorter amount of time, not a longer amount of time.

I became consumed with the law of attraction. When I was on the treadmill, I envisioned myself running closer to my goal. On the subway, I didn’t listen to my iPod but meditated on receiving a job offer. I had the date circled on my calendar and placed the calendar on my door so I would be reminded of the date every time I left the house. I fasted and prayed constantly. I was always grateful. Grateful for the past and grateful for the future as if it was the present. I had a humble heart and never pleaded with God out of desperation.

As you can guess, I received a job offer, but, I received it on the 30th day, a Sunday!!

I interviewed with everyone in the new department, but the CEO traveled a lot and was only available on Sunday to meet. Subsequently, he made me an offer on the 30th day on a Sunday over brunch.

Stay patient. Stay grateful. When you start to feel negative, immediately change your thoughts. The hows are the domain of the Universe, not yours. Just believe.
