You know how in the movie they talk about the little things, like intending a cup of coffee. Well, I got my cup of coffee today. 😉
I was in the usual crazy long line in the drive through of Starbuck’s this morning, when I noticed that there was a girl who had come in from another direction & was trying to get in the line, but nobody was letting her in. I decided to let her in line in front of me. She was very nice, smiled & waved thanks. Well, when the person I let in got to the front of the building, (almost to the order screen), a woman who was sitting outside started giving her a hard time about cutting in line. The girl I had let in told her that I gave her permission. Obviously the woman didn’t believe her & started yelling & calling her names I shall not mention here. When I pulled up a little farther, I was very tempted to chime in & come to the poor girl’s defense, (with the “pre-Secret me, it wouldn’t have been pretty.), but as I have learned recently, by doing that I would just throw more negative at it & make it worse. So I just sat there quietly. Well, when I got to the window, they told me that the girl I had let in front of me had paid for my coffee & told them to tell me thank you. They also proceeded to tell me of 3 other altercations that morning in the parking lot. It was a very volatile time at Starbuck’s today. But I went away with free coffee & a sense of pride that I had stayed happy & positive & didn’t allow myself to be “sucked in” to the negative.
