Got My First Computer At 11.
Submitted by: xanax
ukI am from Slovakia, but lived in the UK before. I am married but separated with my wife.
When I was 11 years old, my mum gave me a book to read to help improve my reading skills. The book was about the power of the subconscious mind. I started reading it aloud as she asked, but then I continued reading it quietly to myself. Even though I may not have fully understood it at that age, I loved the book and read it many times. Nearly 10 years later, I came across “The Secret,” which helped me understand the book even better.
As an 11 year old in 1997, home computers were still relatively new in Slovakia. My friend had a new computer, and we played the game Doom on it almost every day. Feeling frustrated with not having my own computer to play Doom, I decided to make one. All I had was a real keyboard that my mum brought home from work as discarded equipment.
I started by creating a monitor out of a box and drew buttons on it based on what I remembered from my friend’s computer. I also built a tower from a box. The only real component was the keyboard. I sat with my little sister, who was about 4 years old at the time, and we pretended to play Doom. As a child, I could vividly imagine playing the game in my head.
Four months later, I came home from church and saw a blue light in my room! In my room was my very own computer! In 1997, computers were expensive, but my mum managed to acquire one for much less through her connections at work.
Since then, I have learned many lessons and encountered challenges, but I rediscovered the power of “The Secret” and how our thoughts can shape our experiences.
Now, my marriage has broken up, but I understand why. The power of positive thinking and the law of attraction is beautiful, but I’ve also learned that it’s easy to make mistakes that can lead us astray. Today, I cried all day until I kept reading “The Secret” stories. A few hours later, things have shifted significantly. Thank you all. Keep up the positivity!
