“Go to varsity” don’t tell me about money
Submitted by: Nicholas Chuna
Johannesburg, South AfricaMy name is Nicholas, I was born on the 10th of November 1991. I am a student at the University of Johannesburg, studying National Diploma in Transportation Management.
It was 2009, when I graduated from high school. I recall I was so excited, it was like finally I am goimg to work, yes going to work. Varsity/college it was for those who are privilidged, not just a boy from the township.
The year 2010 came. Just right on the 6th of january after the statement of results came out, I was so excited I went to a friend of mine that was also graduating, we were both excited, but well he had different vies on life. I was the boy who wanted to work in a farm, infact anywhere, but my freind was the one who wanted to, who said he will go to college/varsity in that year, ie 2010. But yet we were just from the same neighborhood, both our parents are unemployed. I asked him, “How are you going to pay the fees?” He replied, “My friend, let’s go to varsity, don’t tell me about money.” He went straight to his book shelf, took out a book and said, “Go read this and we shall go to varsity”. I went back home and threw the book just under the bed and laughed. I was laughing at this crazy friend of mine.
Six months later (June), I was working at a supermarket, my friend was at the University Of The WitsWaters. And one of the good days is the day when I got home, I was tired, been working for some months but yet still asking for a rand from my mom. I was lying on the bed and I just thought of reading that book my friend gave me, who I was expecting will be denied access from the campus since he couldn’t pay fees. That’s when I knew The Secret.
I read the book, the infomation that was in that book, I just couldn’t put it down. That night I burnt the candle at both ends. The following I didn’t go to work, I was tired, I was excited, astonished, suprised, it was just some weird feeling I couldn’t understand. I went to my “intelligent friend that used to be “my crazy friend”. When I got to him, I told him I read the book and next year I am coming to varsity. I started seeing the world with a different eye, my life transfomed that very same day, I just couldnt believe it. Everything was brighter than before, I never went back to work, I asked, believed and received everything I want.
Now today I am in varsity, doing good as well and all is because of the wonderful teachings of The Secret team. I would like to thank all The Secet team for such a great work. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
