My wife and I recently bought a house on Glenwood Road. We had wanted to make a change and move from our old home, which we had lived in for 21 years. The very first house that we looked at in the community we had targeted really caught our attention. However, we had just put our old house on the market and did not know when it would sell. So, we hesitated. And, we did not put our orders out into the universe. When we started getting active in looking at houses and considering putting in offers, the Glenwood house was in escrow with another potential buyer.
We looked at eight to ten other houses, always comparing them to Glenwood. During this process we found a second choice; a very distant second. After some months we received an acceptable offer on our old house and it became crunch time. We needed to buy something or move in with family for and extended amount of time. Glenwood was still in escrow, so we put an offer in on our second choice, not really happy with it, but it would do.
All conversations about homes always lead back to my wife and me really wanting the house on Glenwood. So, I decided to finally put our order in with the universe. I consulted this website and started reading Secret Stories from other people about attracting the home of their dreams. One story on The Secret website was exactly what I was looking for. The woman in the story told of her actions to ultimately attract their dream home. And, I re-read The Secret to pick up whatever I was missing. In one line of the book, she spoke of not doing exactly what we were doing.
I starting writing – over and over – our names and the address of the Glenwood house as if it were ours and printing out pictures of the house with our names on it, saying This is our new house. I even put a picture of it on my computers desktop wallpaper. I began envisioning us entertaining friends and family in that house, adding as much action as possible to my daydreams.
Then I think the big one hit. I was re-reading The Secret and one particular line rang out: Ms Byrne was giving examples of how we send the wrong messages to the universe and how you would not get the house you wanted if you were trying to buy another. Bingo! That was what we were doing; we were trying to buy our second choice even though we had previously put an offer in for the Glenwood house as a backup to the offer in escrow.
At this time, we were at a go-no-go point in the contract for the second house. We had to make a choice. It was not easy, but we retracted our offer for the second choice, just knowing that Glenwood would come our way.
Bang! The very next day I mean just that, the very next day we received a call from our real estate agent saying that our offer on Glenwood had been accepted! She had thought us crazy for dropping out of the other house deal, but she was a trooper and stuck with us.
We now live in the house of our dreams, with a smaller mortgage, paying less interest and loving the view.
