St. Louis, MOI'm a pre-med student and a skeptic-turned-believer.
After having some great success with the Secret, my grandma loaned me her copy of the DVD. I had no idea what this “Secret” thing was, and I was extremely skeptical about the whole idea. Nevertheless, I decided to put it to the test, starting with little things.
I would be craving a package of Reese’s all day and come home to find out that my mom had bought me some, just because. Parking at my university is a nightmare and I soon found myself pulling in to the lot right as someone was pulling out, and thus skipping the routine 30 minute parking ordeal. Without even hinting at it, my boyfriend bought the exact Tiffany & Co. ring I was wanting for my birthday. After all these fortunate events, and many more, I decided to use The Secret to attract something much bigger. I had been driving around in the ugliest car possible for the past few months, and was dying to get a new one. I had some money saved from nannying, but my beat-up second hand car was definitely not going to rake in enough cash for me to purchase my dream car: a Land Rover Discovery. I had been wanting a Land Rover for the longest time, but neither me nor my family had the means to buy one. Despite this, I just had to have that car, so I began saying “thank you” every day for a car I didn’t even have. I taped a big picture of one on my mirror so that I saw it first thing in the morning as I was getting ready. I imagined every day what it was like to drive one, and convinced myself it was already in the driveway.
In the meantime, my actual car’s ability to function was declining. It would make strange noises, smoke would billow out from under the hood, and often it would just break down. When I finally thought I was going to be the one to break down, I came across a listing posted on Craigslist. It was a Land Rover almost identical to the one in my picture and was somehow listed in my price range. Seizing the opportunity, I met up with the seller as soon as I could. The Rover had been his family’s third car, and therefore was not used as much as their other vehicles. They were planning on purchasing a new car and didn’t have room for the Rover, otherwise they wouldn’t have sold it (it’s in great condition). Despite the fact that they had received many offers higher than mine, they could tell how much I loved the car and offered to sell it to me at that moment. Miraculously, I had accumulated enough cash to pay in full right on the spot. While it has a few years on it and is supposedly one of the less dependable vehicles on the market, I have had it a little less than a year and have yet to experience any problems.
Thank you so much for teaching me how to turn my pumpkin into a carriage – with The Secret I feel like Cinderella every day!
