Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I hope that it also inspires you.

A few years ago I discovered The Secret along with other positive thinking motivational books and videos. I went through a phase where I was so excited and really got the fact that I was the one solely responsible for the joy and abundance in my life. And I was also solely responsible for the periods in my life where times were difficult, relationships strained, feelings of general unhappiness and my life seemed a very dark place.

In 2010 I started my own business, which was scary after working for someone else and getting a weekly salary. I was taking a huge risk of going out on my own and receiving no weekly salary but working on commission only.

I knew in my mind that I could do this, I was confident and I had direction and motivation so things started well, but after 12 months cash flow was starting to dwindle. There were still regular bills to pay, but no regular money coming in on the horizon.

This was in December 2010. My finances were dire and the real risk of having to admit defeat that my business wasn’t going to provide the income that I needed to keep it going, and having to go back to working for someone else again, was real.

I stressed about it to the point where I was losing hair from my head from all the worries. All I could think about was my “lack”, and I knew I needed to change my focus.

Then and there, I declared to my husband, in the darkest of days, that I would turn my business around to earn $300k in the next 12 months.

I didn’t know how this money was going to come but I DECLARED it. He laughed at me at first, given how bad our money situation was, but I needed to put the declaration out there. And in that moment I told myself that I had to change my outlook, and focus on the positive, feel the money NOW. Feel the relief that all my bills are paid and I had surplus money NOW, and release it to the Universe.

I wrote my declaration down in my “dream book” which I read every night before bed and wrote down all the things I would do with the vast amount of income coming to me from my business success.

I surrounded myself in my office with positive energy such as a vision board with cut out pictures of a new car, new house, holiday destinations, new furniture – the works!

Every day I made a point of not focussing on what I didn’t have but imagining what I wanted here and now and what was coming! I made myself giddy with excitement that all was well and I had no need to worry anymore!

It took approximately 2 months, but then I secured some large sales that I would be paid for shortly thereafter. That financial year went from a negative to a positive of around $200k, which blew my mind at the end of the tax year.

I knew I had done this and turned my business around simply by changing the way I thought and refocused on the positives rather than the “lack” mentality.

This financial year is even better as I have doubled my income from the year before.

I declared the other day to my husband that the next financial year will be even better at $1 million in sales. He knows better to laugh at my declarations now as he is enjoying his new car, our new house, the holidays that we have taken in the past 2 years, the new furniture, all of this paid for by ME from my successful business!

I cannot stress to you enough how the way you change your thinking can literally change your life.

In such a busy world we see what is “here and now” and focus on this, rather than to change the story in our mind, which in turn changes our life for the better.
