I am a 27-year-old teacher and a free spirit. Living in Sri Lanka, a very cultural and traditional country, I have always found it difficult to blend in as I have always felt that my calling was different. So I tend to be the black sheep of the family but the people that I am closest with know exactly who I am. This story happened before I read The Secret.

I had my first boyfriend when I was 15 years old. From that time on I was having a very hard time finding that person who exactly blended in with the way I would like my life to be. I have always wanted that free-spirited, caring, loving relationship but also a best friend and a partner in crime. Basically, I wanted the kind of freedom in a relationship where there is no judgment and where I can be who I really am. I was looking for a best friend.

So, when I was about 25 years old, I was getting very frustrated because every guy I found seemed to be either too possessive, playful, or too much into partying or some sort of lifestyle that I actually did not blend in with. I decided to stay the course.

Every day I would imagine my perfect boyfriend and I believed that the perfect man was somewhere out there and that I would find him one day. I actually believed it so much that I had not a single doubt! I believed and I had faith.

One night I was at dinner with a close friend and I saw my ex-boyfriend from 3 years ago who I still had in my phone contacts. He had come out for a drink with his friends. I just went over, poked him, and had a few minutes of a chat but I also felt something ignite within me.

The next week we had a lunch date and after that, we had a dinner date, and boom! He was right there. He had changed into everything that I had wanted since the last time we broke up.

Regardless of the ups and downs we have, the way we value and respect each other is out of the ordinary and the bond we share is very deep. I have been with him for 2 years now and I am sure he will be the man I grow old with and share all my memories in the future with. Thank you to the Universe! I am so very grateful for everything!
