Finding My Way With The Secret.
Submitted by: Vannessa
FloridaI am just your average suburbanite trying to make a better life for myself and my family.
I was introduced to The Secret several years ago by a friend. I watched the video and made a dream board, but I quickly lost focus. It wasn’t until years later that it was brought back into my life by a series of random internet searches for nothing in particular.
I bought The Secret book and read it. That night, using the power of The Secret, I sold $250 in food at my food truck, which was more than we had made in a week in a long time. But after that, I found it difficult to maintain that positive attitude. I found it difficult to focus on what I wanted as something I already had, and things became worse. I lost my job in March, my finances got far behind, and my overall outlook just went down the tubes.
I finally received some wonderful advice that came from the heart, so I tried what was suggested to me.
That was less than 30 days ago. In that time, I had a dispute with my landlord and decided to terminate my lease agreement. I had no money and no idea where I was going to live, but I knew that October 31 was going to be my last night in that condo. My husband and I found a home close to our kid’s school, but someone else had already signed the lease. The owner of that property said that the person who had signed it had until the 15th to pay the deposit, or she was canceling the lease. I filled out the applications and sent them in.
Then I went and changed my address on all the forms for credit cards and utilities, even the DMV form, to that home’s address. I started packing and even requested time off from work to move.
A week later, she let my husband and me know that we got the house. She even gave it to us for less than it was listed and offered to take $1000 off the deposit if we painted and did some minor handyman work around the house before moving in. I found out yesterday that someone offered her much more money per month to live there, and she turned it down.
In the midst of this, I wrote a letter to my landlord, letting her know my reasons for terminating my lease. An attorney friend created an affidavit for her to sign that would release me from all liability. I was advised that it wasn’t realistic, but at least I made an effort for when it went in front of a judge. I mailed the letter, and a week later, the landlord sent back the signed and notarized affidavit.
In addition to all that, my cat had escaped during this move. Not one shelter had a trap available for loan, so I pictured myself going through the process of setting one up on my patio and waiting for my cat to come back at night. I continued to call different rescue groups, and finally, a woman I never heard of before, called me and said she had one for me.
This has been my experience for the past 30 days. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was able to find the perfect house, was released from my current lease with no financial responsibility and do not have to worry about moving and leaving one of my animals behind. I can’t wait to see how it works over the next 30 years of my life. I am already envisioning my zero balances on credit cards and the title to my vehicle in my name. That is just the beginning.
I have nothing but to give a heartfelt thank you to The Secret, Rhonda, and The Secret team. Without all of them, I don’t know where I would be right now. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you all so very much!
