About 2 years ago, I was saddened by the realization that I was going to be single all my life. After the many relationships I had over the years. The most recent and the one I was in at the time and contemplating on leaving, was the closest it could get to my perfect prince. Little did I know!

He was almost perfect because before I met him, I had written down the type of man I wanted and he had been all that, but I realized later that I had left some small but very important attributes out. I took time to prepare myself and my then boyfriend of 3 years, for the imminent break so that we could still remain friends.

By February 2013 the reality was home, I was in my 40’s, single again, sad and happy and almost certain I had made the biggest mistake. Aware of The Secret’s teachings, I began a serious ‘one-on-one’ with the Universe. I told the Universe that it had to be possible for me to meet someone whom I connected easily and fully with.

I wrote down the qualities I wanted from height to personality. I searched my magazines and the web for pictures of engagement and wedding rings I loved, printed them and pinned on my canvas board in my office. I found pictures of a perfect wedding couple, printed then pinned it too. These were to serve as reminders of what I desired. I remained constantly aware that he, the Prince, was lurking somewhere. I visualized him being behind a curtain so I asked the Universe to bring him forth because I was ready for him. Many nights before sleeping I would walk out onto my private terrace and challenge the Universe to bring him if The Secret teachings are indeed true.

5 months later I planned a solo European holiday to clear the heavy air that surrounded me and to realign myself. My 3rd destination was Paris. I arrived on a Friday evening. Saturday morning I took a walk to the Eiffel tower with a determination to climb it but there were far too many people so I gave up and as I walked back to my hotel, I saw a wine shop. I went in and picked a bottle and a restaurant close by caught my attention. I decided to go have an early lunch/brunch. It was almost midday.

After I had paid up and almost ready to leave, I noticed that 2 guys that were previously dining on the terrace had moved to a table next to me because of rain. Seeing me with my city map, one of them said “You must be a visitor in Paris”. Small conversation and shortly my now fiance asked if he could show me around Paris for which I accepted.

Today we are engaged to be married next year.

I don’t quite understand how this happened in the most unlikely of circumstances but that is the Universe for you. From the moment he became my Paris guide, we saw each other all through my stay in Paris and now we are living together in Nairobi. I truly never thought I would meet someone with all my desired qualities but I did.

So the reason I am sharing this story is not only because I promised the Universe I would, but also to encourage those of us seeking, to not stop till they find the person they truly desire. It is possible. I get goose bumps thinking about me and my fiance’s story. We both know that it was not a coincidence.
